In several places of the parish of Santiago of Gundivós and in the immediate place of Liñarán, both belonging to the city council of Sober, by the Val of Lemos, a pottery industry was developed among rural people that it reached an important magnitude during the XIX century and in the first half of the XX one. 

                          For different villages the " cacharreiros " was distributed that it was this way to such an extent the occupation name that you/they gave him the convecinos, that the whole district was named as cacharreiros terra". An occupation exercised indistinctly by men and women, although the number of men that you/they were devoted to " cacharreiros " was bigger than that of women. Among these famous " cacharreiras " also existed, and the fame arrived until today.  

                         In the last years, before 1950, they were about twenty " cacharreiros " for the whole parish of Gundivós. But in 1960 half dozen only worked, and this because all those that didn't emigrate continued living off the mud. During these years there was not money and a lot of people of the agriculture lived. Those that could and they had decision they looked for other better means of life. In 1965 single Mr. Xosé or Fox continued working with the wheel and when he met with some son they completed the batch and they cooked the pots. 

                       "Until the sixties people were tolerating. The " waves ", before the plastic, were strictly necessary for the transport of the water and for other uses, since there was not another thing. When arriving the cubes of plastic their use he/she extended quickly because they weighed less and they didn't break. The " waves ", before it was necessary to take them as the bread for the house. He/she was necessary to buy them. Then, with the arrival of the plastic, they were no longer sold and people began to emigrate. And all disappeared less or Fox of Vilanova, because it was already old. They were ahead for Spain and to countries of outside of Spain. In 1965 it was no longer more than or Fox." 

                      At the end of the 70 Mrs. Obdulia, cacharreira of Campoverde, to the return of the emigration, it started the lathe again because people continued asking for the pots. And in the years that continue they sink four " cacharreiros ", surprisingly bigger, that almost at the same time decided make " waves " again. Alonso was son of or Fox and it had continued working in the father's house when he came from vacations, and pensioner came for Vilanova in the year 1987. He/she had worked in an iron and steel industry in Avilés, and it reorganized the shop and the father's oven. Happiness, Federico and Agapito began another time to work in the wheel and with them he/she cheered up the pottery in this " cacharreiros " earth.
