Alex Stanger's Portfolio

Summary -The site will display my previous design work all in one site with written explanations of what went into each piece and my experience with design programs

Content - It would be filled with past projects, and since it's my work, I would be providing the all content.

Competition - Kelly Lauren: She has a selection of products she made in the past right on her homepage, with other tabs going to categories with more product in each and links to her social media. Almost no words or captions, instead it's the images laid out in vertical scrolling gallery. I like how if you're there to see her work, she jumps right in and gives you a wide scope. It definitely feels very "grid-y" and the content wasn't made for the website's design, but that's not necessarily a bad thing if you're just there to get an idea of her work, but I saw some really cool artwork integrations with some other portfolios.Alice Lee: Alice has unique work integrated into the website's design. She has artwork made for specifically for her tabs/categories and one of the pieces actually moves around in the scene as you move your cursor. One gripe I have is that all the "buttons" have artwork in them, and they are not differentiated whether it's linking directly to that artwork or if that artwork was just representing the content. At least from my understanding of the functionality. Steve Wolf: From first glance, I could tell this was a Squarespace/Wix site. The whole site looks very "blocky" and "template-y". The site doesn't do a great job of showing off his work on the homepage, which is a shame because he has some impressive projects, but all the images are too large and aren't organized too well. The artwork and products are good, the overall website design is lacking though.

Purpose - If this site was being showed to potential employers/clients, I'd like for my site to be impressive not only for my work, but also for the site's design itself. I think it'd be important to showcase my design talents as a whole throughout the site. A portfolio being integrated as a website, instead of printed, would be a very valuable way to display that your talents can translate through different mediums.

Desired Results - The goal of the site is to show off my talents as a designer, but also be a reflection of my self beyond design. I'd like visitors of my site to understand what I'm capable of and what kind of person I am as well when they leave.

Target Audience - Vistors of my sites would most likely employers, clients, curious fellow designers - meaning they would have a understanding of design principles. Age range and other demographics would be pretty scattered, due to the wide array of the kind of people in the design industry. For the most part, I would think it'd be men and women from the ages of 20 to 60.
