Aaliyah was born Aaliyah Dana Haughton on January 16, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. She would've been 34 years old if her life wasn't cut short. It's hurts to say that Aaliyah died at the age of 22 on August 25, 2001. Fortunately, she has left a legacy. At the age of 5 her family moved to Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 10 Aaliyah appeared on the tv show Star Search. Two years later Aaliyah signed to Jive Records and Blackground Records. Later on Aaliyah would end her contract with Jive Records and sign to Atlantic Records due to some personal problems with a popular R&B artist. In this career Aaliyah earned the nickname Baby Girl and became very close friends with record producers Missy Elliott and Timbaland.

At a very young age Aaliyah has always showed interest in entertainment. Singing was her thing. But she shocked people with her amazing acting skills. Throughout her career, Aaliyah has only made 2 movies. Those films are Romeo Must Die (2001) and Queen of the Damned (2002). Aaliyah was suppose to star in The Matrix Reloaded but she didn't live to do it.

Aaliyah was married at the age of 15 to R&B artist R. Kelly in 1994. At the time he was 27 so of course this caused some gossip to stir up. But that marriage only lasted 6 months. Aaliyah's parents had the marriage annulled. Later on in her life Aaliyah was engaged to Damon Dash the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records. Aaliyah had no kids while she was with us.

I love Aaliyah with all my heart and you can tell she would have some type of impact in my life due to my name. But some interesting things about Aaliyah is that she had a vocal range of a soprano and her legacy will forever live on no matter how long she's gone.
