CODE USE

  • The UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest uses a code system on the inner gate of the parking lot area. This gate is locked 24/hours/day, opening only with a four digit code or a "Kontrol Kard". Kontrol Kards are issued only to staff of the research Forest and Loon Lake Camp; the code is given to rental groups of Loon Lake Camp.

  • The code is keyed into the computerized gate system and is programmed to work only during each particular group's stay (the code changing for each group).

  • Press all four digits of the code PLUS the # sign firmly on the keypad situated on the left-hand side of the roadway in front of the forest office. Wait for the beeps, then drive SLOWLY through the gate after the automatic arm is fully open. (If you drive too quickly, the arm will not return to a closed position.) If the gate doesn't open, repeat the procedure.

  • DO NOT ask the people at the gate for help. They are not responsible for anyone using the camp.

  • There is a swing gate at the entrance to the UBC parking lot that is closed (appears locke) from dusk to 7:00am each day. If you are going through during these hours, please close the gate again behind you.
