Koushiro handed out scripts. "According to my data, this will be a good way to relieve stress."
"Putting on a play! It's so romantic," Mimi breathed.
"Hey, what are you doing here, Mimi?" Sora wondered.
"Author's whim."
"Uh-oh. Is this another author who is out to get me?"
"Actually, no. And readers be warned, Lucia _likes_ Sora."
"..."
"With a few modifications, I believe this play will be perfect for our group," Koushiro said.
"Blah blah blah," Daisuke muttered.
"Daisuke!"
"Yes, Director," Daisuke said with a sigh, receiving his script.
"Miyako, Iori, how's the stage...uh...stuff coming?" The two had opted not to actually act. Miyako gave Koushiro the thumbs-up sign. He blushed.
"Hey, why do I have to be the villian?" Daisuke complained.
Everyone stopped and looked at him.
"Oooookay, sorry I asked."
"Now, the play is Les Miserables, about Revolutionary France. Takeru, you're playing Jean Valjean, the main character and hero."
Takeru smirked at Daisuke, who glowered.
"Daisuke is Javert, the obsessive police inspector. Kari, you're Fantine, the heroine who dies early in the play, sad because she was deserted by the man she loved. You give your daughter- er, son- to Valjean's care. Cosette will be played by Yamato."
Daisuke snickered and Yamato threatened to kill him, as Koushiro continued. "Taichi, you'll be Marius, the young revolutionary and Cosette's flame. Sora, you'll be Eponine."
"Figures," she commented.
"You're sad because Marius doesn't love you. The Theranders will be played by Mimi and Jyou."
Everyone sweatdropped.
"Could they be any more out of character?"
"Got a better suggestion?"
"...Well, no..."

Notes: I am a lazy bum who couldn't own anything if I tried. I am also writing this in the Compose box of my email and have no idea where it's going. Thank you.
I copied all the lyrics from here:
http://www.angelfire.com/hi2/42ndstreet/lmlibretto.html
I was too lazy to type them out. Big thank-you!
Other notes: This has become slightly silly. And I seem to have developed a Jyou/Koushiro/Miyako/Hikari/Takeru/Daisuke love...hexagon??? or something. I think I'll add Ken. ^_^; BTW, I didn't do it on purpose. It just kinda...developed.

"OK," Koushirou said. "Today we're going to rehearse the first act. We won't be doing every scene, just the major songs. I'll narrate to fill in what we leave out. And Mimi has arranged for Willis and Michael to join us from America. Willis, you can play Enjorlas. Michael will do most of the important solos by the extras. Everyone is going to have to fill in for the rest of the extras. With proper costume changes, it should work out."

"Mimi," Willis whispered. "Sorry, but that outfit is so..." He gestured to Mimi's old pink cowgirl dress that she was wearing.

"Unauthentic? I know that, but they don't." She nodded towards the rest of the group.

"Ahem," Koushiro said.

"Sorry."

"OK, we need...Takeru, Kari, Michael, and the rest of the girls onstage. Everyone else to the audience. We're doing 'At the End of the Day.' I've marked your scripts. Square?"

Everyone nodded, and Koushiro hit play on a tape player. (A friend of Hikari's would play piano for the actual performance.)

ALL: At the end of the day you're another day older
And that's all you can say for the life of the poor
It's a struggle, it's a war
And there's nothing that anyone's giving
One more day, standing about, what is it for?
One day less to be living.
At the end of the day you're another day colder
And the shirt on your back doesn't keep out the chill
And the righteous hurry past
They don't hear the little ones crying
And the winter is coming on fast, ready to kill
One day nearer to dying!
At the end of the day there's another day dawning
And the sun in the morning is waiting to rise
Like the waves crash on the sand
Like a storm that'll break any second
There's a hunger in the land
There's a reckoning still to be reckoned
And there's gonna be hell to pay
At the end of the day!

[The foreman and workers, including Fantine, emerge.]

MICHAEL (foreman): At the end of the day you get nothing for nothing
Sitting flat on your butt doesn't buy any bread

ALL:
There are children back at home
And the children have got to be fed
And you're lucky to be in a job
And in a bed!
And we're counting our blessings!

WOMEN:
Have you seen how the foreman is fuming today?
With his terrible breath and his wandering hands?
It's because little Fantine won't give him his way
Take a look at his trousers, you'll see where he stands!
And the boss, he never knows
That the foreman is always in heat
If Fantine doesn't look out
Watch how she goes
She'll be out on the street!

ALL:
At the end of the day it's another day over
With enough in your pocket to last for a week
Pay the landlord pay the shop
Keep on grafting as long as you're able
Keep on grafting till you drop
Or it's back to the crumbs on the table
You've got to pay your way
At the end of the day!

SORA:
What have we here, little innocent sister?
Come on Fantine, let's have all the news!

[She grabs the letter from Fantine.]

"Dear Fantine you must send us more money...
Your child needs a doctor...
There's no time to lose!"

KARI (Fantine):
Give that letter to me
It is none of your business
With a husband at home
And a bit on the side
Is there anyone here
Who can swear before God
She has nothing to fear?
She has nothing to hide?

[They fight over the letter. Valjean rushes over to break up the squabble.]

TAKERU (Valjean):
What is this fighting all about?
Will someone tear these two apart?
This is a factory, not a circus!
Now come on ladies, settle down
I run a business of repute
I am the Mayor of this town

[To the foreman...]

I look to you to sort this out
And be as patient as you can---

[He goes back into the factory.]

MICHAEL
Now someone say how this began!

SORA:
At the end of the day she's the one who began it
There's a kid that she's hiding in some little town
There's a man she has to pay
You can guess how she picks up the extra
You can bet she's earning her keep sleeping around
And the boss wouldn't like it!

KARI:
Yes it's true there's a child
And the child is my daughter
And her father abandoned us leaving us flat
Now she lives with an innkeeper man and his wife
And I pay for the child
What's the matter with that??

WOMEN:
At the end of the day she'll be nothing but trouble
And there's trouble for all when there's trouble for one
While we're earning our daily bread
She's the one with her hands in the butter
You must send the slut away
Or we're all gonna end in the gutter
And it's us who'll have to pay
At the end of the day!

MICHAEL:
I might have known the bitch could bite
I might have known the cat had claws
I might have guessed your little secret
Ah, yes, the virtuous Fantine
Who keeps herself so pure and clean
You'd be the cause I had no doubt
Of any trouble hereabout
You play a virgin in the light
But need no urgin' in the night.

SORA:
She's been laughing at you
While she's having her men

WOMEN:
She'll be nothing but trouble again and again

ALL:
You must sack her today
Sack the girl today!

MICHAEL:
Right my girl!
On your way...

Twwwwweeeet! Miyako whistled shrilly from offstage where she and Iori were making the costumes. "Wow! Super bitch Sora! Nice job, guys!"

"Well," Koushiro conceded. "It is our first time, so we still need to block, work with props and such, as well as getting the music together a bit better..." he went on to show Kari, Takeru and Sora a couple of places where they had screwed up. "OK, now we're going to have Kari sing Fantine's big solo, 'I Dreamed a Dream'."

"Oh, we did this in chorus," Miyako commented.

"Yes, a fairly well-known piece. Hikari has probably heard it before, which will make her job considerably easier." He started the tape playing again.

KARI:
There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong

I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung
No wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we'll live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So much different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed
The dream I dreamed.

"Woah." Miyako said from offstage.

"Miyako?" Iori questioned.

"Whoah," she repeated.

"Miyako-san, you're drooling."

"Eh? Oops," Miyako said, embarrased, wiping her mouth off and trying not to blush.

Koushiro blinked. "Ooookay. Um...can I have Takeru up here, please?"

Takeru bounced cheerfully onstage. "Yes sir, right away sir!"

Koushiro eyed him. "Have you guys been eating sugar or something?"

Takeru looked innocent. "What am I supposed to sing?"

"'Who am I?' Valjean discovers that a man has been mistaken for him and arrested."

"OK!" Takeru beamed.

TAKERU:
He thinks that man is me!
He knew him at a glance!
That stranger he has found
This man could be my chance
Why should I save his hide
Why should I right this wrong
When I have come so far
And struggled for so long?
If I speak, I am condemned
If I stay silent, I am damned!
I am the master of hundreds of workers
They all look to me
How can I abandon them, how can they live
If I am not free?
If I speak, I am condemned
If I stay silent, I am damned!

Who am I?
Can I condemn this man to slavery
Pretend I do not see his agony
This innocent who bears my face
Who goes to judgement in my place
Who am I?
Can I conceal myself for evermore?
Pretend I'm not the man I was before?
And must my name until I die
Be no more than an alibi?
Must I lie?
How can I ever face my fellow man?
How can I ever face myself again?
My soul belongs to God, I know
I made that bargain long ago
He gave me hope, when hope was gone
He gave me strength to journey on

[He steps in front of the court]

Who am I?
Who am I?
I am Jean Valjean!

[He unbuttons his shirt to reveal the number tattooed to his chest.]

And so Javert, you see it's true,
That man bears no more guilt than you!
Who am I?
24601!

"Oh my..." Hikari breathed from her seat next to Daisuke. "His voice is amazing!" Daisuke was irritated as he practically saw her eyes visibly turning into hearts. He looked grumpily at Takeru as he sat down on the other side of him.

"Hey, bro!" Yamato said from behind Takeru. "I think you just caught the girl."

"Really?" Takeru said. "That's...uh...great!"

"Such enthusiasm," Tai frowned.

"I have a theory," Yamato whispered to Taichi.

"Kari, I need you up here, now," Koushiro said, consulting his script. "And Takeru, you need to come back up."

"Oh, OK."

"This is Fantine's death, 'Come to Me'."

"Why do I have to die?" Kari complained.

"Most of the cast dies," Koushiro informed her cheerfully, having been given some of the candy that was being passed around by Jyou. He bent down and started the music on the tape player again.

Jyou blushed.

[Fantine is lying in a hospital bed, deleriously dreaming of her daughter...er...son...
Cosette.]

KARI
Cosette, it's turned so cold
Cosette, it's past your bedtime
You've played the day away
And soon it will be night.
Come to me, Cosette, the light is fading
Don't you see the evening star appearing?
Come to me, and rest against my shoulder
How fast the minutes fly away and every minute colder.
Hurry near, another day is dying
Don't you hear, the winter wind is crying?
There's a darkness which comes without a warning
But I will sing you lullabyes and wake you in the morning.

[Valjean enters.]

TAKERU:
Oh, Fantine, our time is running out
But Fantine, I swear this on my life

KARI:
Look, M'sieur, where all the children play

TAKERU:
Be at peace, be at peace evermore.

KARI:
My Cosette...

TAKERU:
Shall live in my protection

KARI:
Take her now

TAKERU:
Your child will want for nothing

KARI:
Good M'sieur, you come from God in Heaven.

TAKERU:
And none will ever harm Cosette
As long as I am living.

KARI
Take my hand,
The night grows ever colder.

TAKERU:
Then I will keep you warm.

KARI:
Take my child, I give her to your keeping.

TAKERU:
Take shelter from the storm

KARI:
For God's sake, please stay till I am sleeping
And tell Cosette I love her
And I'll see her when I wake...

[She dies with a smile; Javert arrives.]

"OK. Kari off, Daisuke on. 'Confrontation'."

DAISUKE (Javert):
Valjean, at last,
We see each other plain
`M'sieur le Mayor',
You'll wear a different chain.

TAKERU:
Before you say another word, Javert
Before you chain me up like a slave again
Listen to me! There is something I must do.
This woman leaves behind a suffering child.
There is none but me who can intercede,
In Mercy's name, three days are all I need.
Then I'll return, I pledge my word.
Then I'll return...

DAISUKE:
You must think me mad!
I've hunted you across the years
A man like you can never change
A man... such as you...

TAKERU (in counterpoint):
Believe of me what you will
There is a duty that I'm sworn to do
You know nothing of my life
All I did was steal some bread
You know nothing of the world
You would rather see me dead
But not before I see this justice done
I am warning you Javert
I'm a stronger man by far
There is power in me yet
My race is not yet run
I am warning you Javert
There is nothing I won't dare
If I have to kill you here
I'll do what must be done!

DAISUKE (in counterpoint):
Men like me can never change
Men like you can never change
No, 24601,
My duty's to the law
You have no rights
Come with me 24601
Now the wheel has turned around
Jean Valjean is nothing now
Dare you talk to me of crime
And the price you had to pay
Every man is born in sin
Every man must choose his way
You know nothing of Javert
I was born inside a jail
I was born with scum like you
I am from the gutter too!

[Valjean breaks chair and threatens Javert with the broken piece. Turns to Fantine.]

TAKERU:
And this I swear to you tonight

DAISUKE:
There is no place for you to hide

TAKERU:
Your child will live within my care

DAISUKE:
Wherever you may hide away

TAKERU:
And I will raise her to the light.

BOTH:
I swear to you, I will be there!

[They fight, Javert is knocked out. Valjean escapes.]

"OK. We're changing scenes at this point in the play to the inn that the Thenardiers own. Yamato. You're singing 'Castle on a Cloud.'"

Taichi winked at Yamato, smacking him on the bottom as he got up to perform.

"Tai!" Yamato protested, hurrying up to the stage in order to avoid Koushiro's wrath.

"Do you hear something?" Sora questioned Mimi.

"Sounds kinda like an author snickering uncontrollably?"

"...Now that you mention it, yeah."

[Young Cosette is working as a drudge in the Thenardier's inn at
Montfermeil.]

YAMATO (Cosette):
There is a castle on a cloud,
I like to go there in my sleep,
Aren't any floors for me to sweep,
Not in my castle on a cloud.
There is a room that's full of toys,
There are a hundred boys and girls,
Nobody shouts or talks too loud,
Not in my castle on a cloud.
There is a lady all in white,
Holds me and sings a lullabye,
She's nice to hear and she's soft to touch,
She says "Cosette, I love you very much."
I know a place where no one's lost,
I know a place where no one cries,
Crying at all is not allowed,
Not in my castle on a cloud.

Oh help! I think I hear them now,
and I'm nowhere near finished sweeping and
scrubbing and polishing the floor.
Oh, it's her! It's Madame!

Koushiro stopped the tape. "Oops, I forgot. I need Mimi and Sora as well."

The two girls got up to join him onstage.

"OK, continue," he said, starting the tape.

MIMI (Mme. Thenardier):
Now look who's here
The little madam herself!
Pretending once again she's been `so awfully good',
Better not let me catch you slacking
Better not catch my eye!
Ten rotten francs your mother sends me
What is that going to buy?
Now take that pail
My little `Mademoiselle'
And go and draw some water from the well!
We should never have taken you in in the first place
How stupid, the things that we do!
Like mother like daughter, the scum of the street.
Eponine, come my dear, Eponine, let me see you
You look very well in that new little blue hat
There's some little girls who know how to behave
And they know what to wear
And I'm saying thank heaven for that.
Still there Cosette?
Your tears will do you no good.
I told you fetch some water from the well in the wood...

YAMATO:
Please do not send me out alone
Not in the darkness on my own!

MIMI:
Enough of that, or I'll forget to be nice!
You heard me ask for something,
And I never ask twice!

[SORA (Young Eponine) pushes Cosette out. Thenardier says good night to his daughter as the inn fills up for the evening.]

"OK, Sora and Yamato, offstage. Jyou, onstage. I'll also need the rest of the guys up here as extras. Now, I know I've cast you out of character, but I think it should be humorous. And your roles are that, so try to act the part, OK?"

Both nodded, Mimi gulping.

[Thenardier greets a new customer.]

Jyou (Thenardier):
Welcome, M'sieur
Sit yourself down
And meet the best
Innkeeper in town
As for the rest
All of 'em crooks
Rooking their guests
And cooking the books
Seldom do you see
Honest men like me
A gent of good intent
Who's content to be

Master of the house
Doling out the charm
Ready with a handshake
And an open palm
Tells a saucy tale
Makes a little stir
Customers appreciate a bon-viveur
Glad to do a friend a favor
Doesn't cost me to be nice
But nothing gets you nothing
Everything has got a little price!

Master of the house
Keeper of the zoo
Ready to relieve 'em
Of a sou or two
Watering the wine
Making up the weight
Pickin' up their knick-knacks
When they can't see straight
Everybody loves a landlord
Everybody's busom friend
I do whatever pleases
Jesus! Won't I bleed 'em in the end!

JYOU and OTHERS:
Master of the house
Quick to catch yer eye
Never wants a passerby
To pass him by
Servant to the poor
Butler to the great
Comforter, philosopher,
And lifelong mate!
Everybody's boon companion
Everybody's chaperone

JYOU
But lock up your valises
Jesus! Won't I skin you to the bone!

[To another new customer...]

Enter M'sieur
Lay down your load
Unlace your boots
And rest from the road
This weighs a ton
Travel's a curse
But here we strive
To lighten your purse
Here the goose is cooked
Here the fat is fried
And nothing's overlooked
Till I'm satisfied

Food beyond compare
Food beyond belief
Mix it in a mincer
And pretend it's beef
Kidney of a horse
Liver of a cat
Filling up the sausages
With this and that

Residents are more than welcome
Bridal suite is occupied
Reasonable charges
Plus some little extras on the side!
Charge 'em for the lice
Extra for the mice
Two percent for looking in the mirror twice
Here a little slice
There a little cut
Three percent for sleeping with the window shut
When it comes to fixing prices
There are a lot of tricks he knows
How it all increases
All those bits and pieces
Jesus! It's amazing how it grows!

JYOU and OTHERS:
Master of the house
Quick to catch yer eye
Never wants a passerby
To pass him by
Servent to the poor
Butler to the great
Comforter, philosopher,
And lifelong mate!
Everybody's boon companion
Gives 'em everything he's got

JYOU
Dirty bunch of geezers
Jesus! What a sorry little lot!

MIMI:
I used to dream
That I would meet a prince
But God Almighty,
Have you seen what's happened since?
Master of the house?
Isn't worth me spit!
`Comforter, philosopher'
- and lifelong shit!
Cunning little brain
Regular Voltaire
Thinks he's quite a lover
But there's not much there
What a cruel trick of nature
Landed me with such a louse
God knows how I've lasted
Living with this bastard in the house!

JYOU and OTHERS:
Master of the house!

MIMI:
Master and a half!

JYOU and OTHERS:
Comforter, philosopher

MIMI:
Ah, don't make me laugh!

JYOU and OTHERS:
Servant to the poor
Butler to the great

MIMI:
Hypocrite and toady
And inebriate!

JYOU and OTHERS:
Everybody bless the landlord!
Everybody bless his spouse!

JYOU:
Everybody raise a glass

MIMI:
Raise it up the master's arse

ALL:
Everybody raise a glass to the master of the house!

Taichi and Yamato, in the audience, where laughing, choking, rolling around on the floor, and generally making asses of themselves.

"Definitely too much sugar," Koushiro muttered to himself. "Um...OK, Valjean takes Cosette away. Quite a bit happens- Cosette has grown up, Eponine chases Marius, who makes his appearance around, and Cosette and Marius run into each other. One of those love at first sight things. Anyway, the most important thing is that Valjean and Javert cross paths again. Daisuke! Your big solo, 'Stars'."

DAISUKE:
There, out in the darkness
A fugitive running
Fallen from God
Fallen from grace
God be my witness
I never shall yield
Till we come face to face
Till we come face to face
He knows his way in the dark
But mine is the way of the Lord
And those who follow the path of the righteous
Shall have their reward
And if they fall
As Lucifer fell
The flame
The sword!
Stars
In your multitudes
Scarce to be counted
Filling the darkness
With order and light
You are the sentinels
Silent and sure
Keeping watch in the night
Keeping watch in the night
You know your place in the sky
You hold your course and your aim
And each in your season
Returns and returns
And is always the same
And if you fall as Lucifer fell
You fall in flame!
And so it has been
And so it is written
On the doorway to paradise
That those who falter and those who fall
Must pay the price!
Lord let me find him
That I may see him
Safe behind bars
I will never rest
Till then, this I swear
This I swear by the stars!

"Takeru," Yamato whispered. "Hey, Takeru!" he said a little louder, smacking his brother.

"Eh? What?"

Yamato raised an eyebrow at Taichi, who smirked. "You seeing what I'm seeing?"

"Oh yeah. Definitely."

"Let's play-"

"Let's not. Remember how we tried to set up Shigeru and Satoshi?[1] And how the principal's still mad at us?"

"...Oh yeah. Drats."

Koushiro cringed as he tried to forget the image of a blackened science lab. "...Anyway. Eponine agrees to help Marius find Cosette. Meanwhile, Marius heads to the ABC cafe, where he meets his friends who are planning a revolution. I need Taichi, Michael, Willis, and the rest of the guys."

[The ABC Cafe, where the students, led by Enjolras, meet to discuss theirrevolutionary plans.]

WILLIS (Enjolras):
It is time for us all
To decide who we are...
Do we fight for the right
To a night at the opera now?
Have you asked of yourselves
What's the price you might pay?
Is it simply a game
For rich young boys to play?
The color of the world
Is changing
Day by day...
Red - the blood of angry men!
Black - the dark of ages past!
Red - a world about to dawn!
Black - the night that ends at last!

TAICHI (Marius):
Had you been there tonight
You might know how it feels
To be struck to the bone
In a moment of breathless delight!
Had you been there tonight
You might also have known
How the world may be changed
In just one burst of light!
And what was right
Seems wrong
And what was wrong
Seems right...

MICHAEL (Grantaire): [mocking...]
Red...

TAICHI:
I feel my soul on fire!

MICHAEL:
Black...

Marius
My world if he's not there...

ALL:
Red...

TAICHI:
The color of desire!

ALL:
Black...

MARIUS:
The color of despair!

WILLIS:
Marius, you're no longer a child
I do not doubt you mean it well
But now there is a higher call
Who cares about your lonely soul
We strive toward a larger goal
Our little lives don't count at all!

ALL
Red - the blood of angry men!
Black - the dark of ages past!
Red - a world about to dawn!
Black - the night that ends at last!

"The crusaders get the sign they were looking for to start a revolution, and begin stirring people up," Izzy narrated. "Same group."

WILLIS:
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echos the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

MICHAEL:
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?

WILLIS:
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free!!

ALL:
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echos the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

MICHAEL:
Will you give all you can give
So that our banner may advance
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs
Will water the meadows of France!

ALL:
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echos the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

"Nice job!" Sora teased from the audience. "You're all so...manly!" She giggled.

Mimi rolled her eyes. "Sora, get a grip. You sound like...me!"

"Moving right along...'A Heart Full of Love.' I'll need Taichi, Yamato, and Sora. Eponine has just led Marius to Cosette's house."

[Marius goes into the garden, leaving Eponine outside.]

TAICHI:
A heart full of love
A heart full of song
I'm doing everything all wrong
Oh God, for shame
I do not even know your name
Dead Mad'moiselle
Won't you say?
Will you tell?

YAMATO:
A heart full of love
No fear, no regret

TAICHI:
My name is Marius Pontmercy

YAMATO:
And mine's Cosette

TAICHI:
Cosette, I don't know what to say

YAMATO:
Then make no sound

TAICHI:
I am lost

YAMATO:
I am found!

TAICHI:
A heart full of light

YAMATO:
A night bright as day

TAICHI:
And you must never go away
Cosette, Cosette

YAMATO:
This is a chain we'll never break

TAICHI:
Do I dream?

YAMATO:
I'm awake!

TAICHI:
A heart full of love

SORA: [outside, interjecting]
He was never mine to lose

YAMATO:
A heart full of you

SORA:
Why regret what could not be?

TAICHI:
A single look and then I knew.

SORA:
These are words he'll never say

YAMATO:
I knew it too.

SORA:
Not to me...

TAICHI:
From today...

SORA:
Not to me...

YAMATO:
Every day

SORA:
Not for me...

TAICHI & YAMATO: [counterpoint]
For it isn't a dream
Not a dream
After all!

SORA: [counterpoint]
His heart full of love
He will never
Feel this way...

The three looked up startled at the sudden sobbing coming from the audience, where Mimi and Miyako were hugging and bawling their eyes out. The deserted Iori continued to work diligently on the costumes.

Koushiro rubbed his temples. "Oooookay. Can I have everyone up here for 'One Day More'? Let's see...not much happens except that Valjean realizes he has to move to escape Javert."

TAKERU:
One day more,
Another day, another destiny,
This never ending road to Calvary;
These men who seem to know my crime
Will surely come a second time,
One day more...

TAICHI:
I did not live until today,
How can I live when we are parted?

TAKERU:
One day more...

TAICHI & YAMATO:
Tomorrow you'll be worlds away,
And yet with you, my world has started.

SORA:
One more day all on my own

TAICHI & YAMATO:
Will we ever meet again?

SORA:
One more day with him not caring

TAICHI & YAMATO:
I was born to be with you.

SORA:
What a life I might have known

TAICHI & YAMATO:
And I swear I will be true!

SORA:
But he never saw me there...

WILLIS:
One more day before the storm!
At the barricades of Freedom!
When our ranks begin to form,
Will you take your place with me?

TAICHI:
Do I follow where she goes!
Shall I join my brothers there!
Do I stay or do I dare?

ALL:
The time is now
The place is here

TAKERU:
One day more!

DAISUKE:
One more day till revolution,
We will nip it in the bud!
I will join these little schoolboys,
They will wet themselves with blood!

TAKERU:
One day more!

MIMI & JYOU:
Watch'm run amuck,
Catch'm when they fall,
Never know your luck
When there's a free for all,
Here a little pinch,
There a little touch,
Most of them are goners
So they won't miss much!

ALL:
One day to a new beginning
Raise the flag of freedom high!
Every man will be a king
Every man will be a king
There's a new world for the winning
There's a new world to be won
Do you hear the people sing?

TAICHI:
My place is here,
I fight with you!

TAKERU:
One day more!

TAICHI & YAMATO:
I did not live until today...
Tomorrow you'll be worlds away
And yet with you my world has started

SORA:
One more day all on my own...

DAISUKE:
I will join these people's heros
I will follow where they go
I will know their little secrets,
I will know the things they know.

TAKERU:
One day more!

MIMI & JYOU:
Watch 'em run amuck
Catch 'em as they fall
Never know your luck
When there's a free-for-all

DAISUKE:
One more day to revolution
We weill nip it in the bud
We'll be ready for these schoolboys
Tommorow is the judgement day

TAKERU
Tomorrow we'll be far away,
Tomorrow is the judgement day

ALL
Tomorrow we'll discover
What our God in Heaven has in store!
One more dawn
One more day
One day more!

"And the curtain falls," Koushiro announced, glad to be done for the day.

As everyone gathered up their stuff, someone watched from backstage. "I guess they all forgot me again...the author, too."

"Hey, I said I was sorry!" a voice said.

"Did you hear something?" Mimi asked. Daisuke just gave her a blank look.

"But everyone always forgets me, anyway."

Daisuke looked up. He thought for a minute that he had seen...but no. The others would never allow it. He left the theater, humming a melancholy tune.
