[Your anger don't impress me
The world slapped in your face]

"Jerk!"
"Impulsive idiot!"
"Worrywart!"
"Cautious," Yamato corrected.
"Boring!"
"Look, I'm telling you, we all need to be fresh in case something comes up..."
"Awwww...c'mon, Yama-kun! Nothing's come up in a few months! I think this time we really are here to stay."
"That's what you said the last time...and the time before that...and the time before-"
"OK, OK. But I think we all need to have a little fun and I heard about this club-"
"No."
"C'mon, Yamato...please?"
"Yeah, Yamato. Even Koushiro is coming!" Mimi said, attaching herself to his arm.
Yamato rolled his eyes, knowing that nothing would detach her until she had her way. "All right. Fine. But don't say I didn't warn you..."
"You're getting to sound like Jyou. All fuss and no fun," Taichi teased.
"Jerk!" Yamato yelled. And it started over again...
All the way to the club...
"Egotistical jerk!"
"You said that already," Tai teased.
"You...you...brat!"
"Doesn't impress me, Yamato."
And once they were inside...
"Can't dance!"
"No sense of rythm!"
"I do so!"
"Do not!"
"I could dance better than you any day."
Mimi rolled her eyes at Sora. Pointing at them, she mouthed, "They're both idiots."
Sora hid a giggle.
"Play along," she mouthed back.
"You know," Sora said, "Mimi and I think it's sad that you two are always fighting. But if you really want to know, the two of us can decide who's the better dancer."
"Oh?" Yamato raised an eyebrow. "So you wanna trade partners?"
"Nuh-uh." Sora shook her head. "We can't see how you look from so close up."
"Then we'll go find-"
"No," Mimi said, catching on. Just dance together." She winked at Sora. "You can...work out your problems."
"B-b-but-!" Yamato protested.
"Don't try to pull the 'everyone will stare on us,'" Mimi said, nodding towards another same-sex couple across the dance floor.
Yamato muttered something under his breath, and Mimi and Sora took that as assent, pulling a partner change on the boys.
Taichi just blinked.
"'Matt...what's eating you?"
"Huh?"
"Yamato...I can tell you're upset and are taking it out on me, then avoiding me. What's wrong?" "You know me that well, huh?"

[See, you'd love to run home
But you know you ain't got one
'Cause you're living in a world
That you're best forgotten]

"I...know it sounds crazy, but I miss the Digiworld. At least half the time I spent there was in total misery, wishing I could go home. The other half I was sleeping."
Tai chuckled a little. "So why would you wanna go back there?" he prompted after a minute.
"...There, in the Digiworld...I had...friends. Here I have...nothing. Not even Takeru, really, because of us not living together. It doesn't really even seem like we're family. So I have...no one."
"Yama-kun, are you nuts? Just because we don't see each other as often, doesn't mean that we're not just as good a group of friends as we used to be. I'm sure if we asked them, Sora and Mimi would say that they're always there if you need help."
A slow song started and the two looked at each other self consciously and gulped. "Uh..." Yamato blushed.
"I don't mind if you don't," Taichi whispered, pulling the now-smaller Yamato in closer.
Taichi failed to see Yamato's blush as he buried his face in Taichi's shirt. "Taichi...will you be there for me?"

[And you're thinking you're a joke
Do you think that they'll listen
To the one small point
You know they've been missing 'round here...]

"...I think they've forgotten about the contest," Mimi whispered.
"...I think you're right."
"So no one would notice if we slipped off..."
They did so.

"Of course. I'm your friend too, you know."
"Tai...you're missing the point...I...think I love you."
"You...love me?"
Yamato nodded, burying his face in Taichi's shirt again. "Sorry. I don't want to scare you," he muttered.
Taichi was shocked. Of course he cared for Yamato. Very much. But this...was completely undexpected. But Taichi hadn't been chosen as Courage for nothing.
"I love you too, Yama-chan," he whispered, before tilting Yamato's chin up to kiss him. 1
