Something dies inside me,
I tell myself I can’t look back
It’s time I found a new beginning,
Time I get back on track

Heero is following Duo around with a rose. Duo finally gets irritated and punches Heero in the face. “Jerk! You’re acting as bad as Relena the Leech, so why don’t you just crawl back to her?!”
Heero looks shocked, and Duo walks, very satisfied, around the corner, looking like Sylvester right after consuming Tweety Bird. Wufei stands around the corner, fist jammed into his mouth, choking on his own laughter. With a flourish, Duo presents Wufei with the rose he snitched from Heero. Wufei blushes. Leaning closer to Wufei, Duo whispers one word in his ear. “Run!!”
A sudden “Omae o korosu Maxwell to Chang!!!” rings out from around the corner, and both take off running, laughing out loud now.

New beginning, old life dies,
Night has come and I close my eyes
And the river flows and the swift time flies,
Blood stains red as the white dove cries.

“I can’t thank you enough, you know that,” Duo says to Wufei over the proverbial candlelight dinner.
“I know, you’ve told me before,” Wufei said, eyes smiling even though his face wasn’t.
“Aishiteru, Wufei,” Duo said, leaning over and kissing the suprised Wufei on the lips. “’There are a million ways to say it- people say it when they say, ‘Take your umbrella, it’s raining,’ or even ‘Be careful! You’ll break your neck!’”
“Shakespeare?” Wufei asked.
“Wu-chan, you really don’t know your English literature, do you? It’s from a play called “The Curious Savage” by John Patrick.”
“Ah. Beautiful.”

New beginning, time to start again
Turn my face up to the rain,
Cooling tears from heaven’s gate
Let it wash away the pain

“Wufei, the war’s over!” Duo screamed in Wufei’s ear. Fortunately, Wufei had developed Immunity to Duo’s Screams (TM) long ago, so he was able to recover his hearing very quickly.
“Really?” He commented, rubbing out his ear.
“Yeah! Isn’t this great? Now we can stay together! Forever!”
Wufei froze.

New beginning, old life dies,
Night has come and I close my eyes
And the river flows and the swift time flies,
Blood stains red as the white dove cries.

“Wufei? Daijoubu desu ka?” Duo asked.
“H-hai. Gomen nasai, Duo, I- I don’t know...”
Duo sighed. *I guess Wu wasn’t ready for that.* “No, no, I should apologize. I mean, if you don’t want to make any committment, I’ll understand. Um...I have to go help Quatre with dinner.” He walked away with a sigh.
Wufei stared after him. He could tell that Duo had been more hurt than he let on. But he was so afraid...
Suddenly, he brought his hand up and rammed it into the cinderblock wall. It came away bleeding. He shook his hand out- of course, he could have demolished the wall if he had wanted to, but what he wanted was the pain.
*You know what you have to do, baka* he said forcefully to himself.

New beginning, new life here
Old life tears into my heart
Can’t seem to block the pain away,
Is my life real or just a part?

The next evening, Wufei led Duo out into the woods.
‘You look nice, tonight, Duo,” Wufei said.
“Thanks,” Duo replied.
“Black’s really your color.”
“Hmmmm.”
“Nice night, tonight.”
“Yeah.”
“......”
“You know, you look nice tonight.”
Duo sighed. “That’s five, Wufei. Spit it out.”
“Five what?”
“The fifth time you’ve said that I look nice.”
“....Oh.”
“So?”
“You know, Duo, I’m afraid of committment. You know- because of what-” his voice hitched, “-what happened with Meiran.”
“No, it’s OK, really, Wu-chan,” Duo said, a little sadly.
“No, it isn’t. Duo- this- this is hard...”
“What?” Duo said.
“Um...aren’t the stars beautiful?” Wufei stammered, pointing at the night sky.
“Yeah...” Duo said, staring at the sky with a half smile on his lips. Than he remembered Wufei, and looked back towards him. Then his eyes widened in shock.
Wufei was kneeling before him, holding up a case with an onyx ring in it. “Duo, I know that we can’t really get married, because of some stupid laws...but will you be mine, forever?”
Duo froze. He had _never_ expected this.
Wufei turned away, taking the silence as a no. He must not have been fast enough. He should have apologized sooner. A crystal tear came to his eye.
Suddenly, he was tackled from behind by 100+ pounds (1) of hyper, happy Duo. “Of course!” Duo screamed. Again. “You doubted me?”
“Love ya,” Wufei said, presenting Duo the ring.
And everything was good.

New beginning, old life dies,
Night has come and I close my eyes
And the river flows and the swift time flies,
Blood stains red as the white dove cries.

(1) Can anyone tell me Duo’s weight in pounds? 1
