Eheheh. I'm eeeevil. I _still_ don't tell you who Takeru was in love with! ^_^ Peace! Oh, if you really want to know, there _are_ enough hints to figure it out. ^^; Or if you can’t, and you really want to know, email me and I‘ll either tell you or give you a hint/tell you what to look for in the story. But I kind of intend for it to be left up to interpretation. Um…you can also email me your guess if you want to know if you’re right… “…I begin baby, where you end Some things are forever Circle in the sand, baby round and round Never ending love is what we’ve found And you could be a part of me Our love is all we need…” -Belinda Carlisle, Circle in the Sand "Takeru, gomen ne," Hikari whispered. "You're sorry? It's your fault I'm dead and you're sorry???" "I am! Believe me! I was not in my right mind when I killed myself-" He turned away. "Hikari, don't you know anything about love??? If you really loved me, you should have been happy that I was happy, not out to get revenge on me!" "Hey," a voice said, interrupting them. Hikari looked puzzled. "That sounded like-" "Wizardmon," said digimon said, popping into existence. "Nice to see you two again." They both just stared at him. "What, have I grown another head? I _am_ dead, you know." "…Why are you here?" Takeru asked after a moment. "Well, the powers that decide these things think that you two really need to reconcile your problems. They also happen to be awfully good at making up punishments and the like." "What?! I haven't done anything wrong!" Takeru protested. "You killed yourself," Wizardmon said, eyeing him. "Fine," Takeru said pouting. "But why do I get the feeling I'm not going to like what's going to happen?" "You probably aren't going to." "What?" Hikari asked, tired of beating around in a bush. "You two are going to be the guardian angel of your friends." "Uh, you mean angels," Hikari said. "That doesn't sound too bad," Takeru said. "No, I mean angel." Wizardmon said. "You'll be sharing the same body so you'll have to work out your problems sooner or later." The both just blinked at him. "You're kidding, right?" "I wouldn't kid," Wizardmon said, waving his hand in their general direction. "Have fun, you two." And with a puff of smoke, he was gone, and Hikari and Takeru found themselves sharing the same body. “This is just great,” Takeru muttered, as he and Hikari got their thoughts separated from each other, and Takeru hoped Hikari hadn’t found out more than he wanted her to know. He knew he’d found out a bit more than he wanted to know about her. They both tried to take control of the body, Hikari trying to flutter the big, white wings, and Takeru trying to say something. *OK, look,* Hikari thought mentally at him after a minute. She must not have found out, or she’d be either shocked enough not to speak to him, or screaming at him. *We’re going to have to figure out who gets to control the body. Maybe I could control it days, and you nights.* *Nothing happens at night!* Takeru protested. *Fine! Then I’ll have it in the afternoons, and you can have mornings!* Takeru decided not to protest this, even though more stuff happened after lunch as well. *Fine, but I get the first half of the night, then.* *Fine.* Hikari’s tone was grumpy, and she abruptly withdrew, sitting behind a mental wall. *Well, it’s morning, so I guess it’s my control,* Takeru thought cheerfully. Flying was lots of fun. If only Yamato could see him now! Takeru soared over Odaiba, heading to check up on all his friends. After all, he was appointed guardian angel to the digidestined, and perhaps those close to them as well. Hikari was asleep, although Takeru wasn’t sure how, what with all the mental noise he was making, not to mention the sights…the sounds…the feel of air through his wings! He fluttered down as he got closer to the area where his family and friends lived, heading to check up on them. Takeru visited Yamato first. His brother looked terrible, with dark bags under his eyes. *Aw, man, is this what I did?* Takeru thought, guilt attacking him again. *Niichan…gomen ne…* Yamato was just staring off into space, despite the late hour. It seemed that he hadn’t been sleeping. *Sleep…* Takeru thought at him, trying out his new abilities. He seemed to already have the knowledge of how to use his angelic powers and what he wasn’t allowed to do. (Anything announcing his presence.) *Niichan, gomen ne…* he thought again, before floating off to see how the others were doing and to help them in what small ways he could. Then came Ken and Iori. Both had become close friends with him after the defeat of Oikawa, when they’d finally had a chance to get to know each other better. Iori was his Digievolution partner, which created an undeniable bond, and Ken was just…Ken. Always there, always supportive, always willing to give, never to take. And always willing to help Takeru with homework! By the time Takeru had checked up on them, it was Hikari’s turn to control, and Takeru sank back into their shared subconscious, pulling comforting thoughts around him like a blanket, and falling asleep. While Takeru was sleeping, Hikari made a dash to America to visit her “sister” Mimi, and then back, to visit her other “sister”, Sora. After all their adventures in the digiworld, when the two helped her out and were like the big sisters she never had, she was really close to them, and missed them like crazy. Taichi she met just as the sun was coming up. He looked at least as bad as Yamato had, and he apparently hadn’t been sleeping at all, as he was up and about at six and headed for Yamato’s apartment. A slightly-better looking Yamato opened the door, and Taichi collapsed. Yamato hugged him. “Gomen, Taichi, I miss Takeru, too. But I fell asleep and dreamt Takeru was an angel…” “Sorry, Yamato,” Taichi apologized. “I should stop doing this to you.” “Don’t worry, I need the comfort, too.” Taichi choked. “I- I just wish-” he began sobbing incoherently. Yamato led him to the couch and let him sit down. After a few minutes of crying, Hikari touched him softly and he fell into a much-needed rest. Hikari took off for Miyako’s house in the little bit of time she had before she had to wake up Takeru for his turn. Miyako looked deadly pale. “How could she?” her lips formed. “We were partners,” she said softly. “Digievolution partners. Our hearts beat as one. What could I do when yours stopped? Hikari…didn’t you care about any of us, just to leave us behind so easily?” *She’s…insane,* Hikari whispered to Takeru inside her mind, who was just waking up. *Touch her mind…take the edge off the pain. She’s had enough time it can go now.* Hikari did. Daisuke. The last one to visit, and he was incredibly pale. He looked like he hadn’t been out in the sun playing soccer for months. But he seemed to have moved on. Daisuke was Daisuke, he could bounce back from anything. Just roll with the punches. But as Takeru knew, sometimes his smile concealed pain deeper than most people can imagine. Takeru eased it, but some pain will never truly leave.
