This is a songfic. Neither GW nor Landslide belong to me. Landslide belongs to Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks and GW belongs to Tomino-sama and *coughIdon'tknowwhoelseblushcough*
Hey, I've only been into this for a little while. (Which means that you have to tell me nicely about any factual errors.)
Oh, waning: This is a shounen ai fic. If you don't know what that means, then you ought to go do some research before you run into something nasty. No hentai in this fic, though. So you're safe there. ^_^
PS: 1x2, Relena fans beware!
Took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills,
Till the landslide brought me down

Heero looked up at the face across the dinner table, felt himself drowning in eyes the color of Iris flowers, and promptly looked down again.
The boys were all together, having a dinner to celebrate the new-found peace. Heero had "somehow ended up" across from Duo, and now he was a little...uncomfortable.
"Where's Relena?" Quatre remarked. "You gave her the invitation, right, Heero?"
"Hn." Heero replied. Quatre took that as a yes. *If he actually thought I was going to invite that...that...leech, he's out of his mind.* "Is it hot in here?" he asked no one in particular.
The rest of the company shook their heads. "I didn't think the perfect warrior got hot," Duo commented.
"Hn," Heero repeated. He decided that even if he drowned in that Iris-colored ocean, he'd be a happy man.
*I want to go back...I hated the war while it was going on, but it let me stay near Duo. It gave me an excuse to do so. Oh, God, I'm so afraid...afraid of what'll happen to us...to all of us...now that the war's over.*

Oh mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Duo shifted uncomfortably. He could swear Heero was staring at him. It was giving him the creeps. He began thinking to himself. *If he felt the same way...but he doesn't. There's no way the perfect warrior could love someone as imperfect as me. Well...OK, so he's not as perfect as all that...he's only perfect when it comes to fighting. To me he's perfect in every way.*
Duo looked at the boy across from him. Heero was his complete opposite, his mirror in personality. He was quiet and sullen, mature byond his years, while Duo was still really a child in his heart, despite what he'd been through. He was talkative and outgoing, not at all like Heero.

...I don't know...

*Do I love Duo? I don't know...I don't know what love is. Can I learn? Can I make it though another season? I can't live with him, I can't live without him...*

I don't know

*Do I love Heero? What is love? It takes someone so much older to understand. Can I rise above the childishness and become the adult I need to be?*

Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you

It was late. Heero should have been sprawled out on futons on the floor like the rest of the pilots, but he was standing outside in the cold air instead.
*I had arranged everything in life around one purpose...my missions. And then Duo came along, and everything fell apart, only to rebuild around Duo. I don't think I could take that again...having my life fall apart. I want things to stay exactly as they are. What happens now? Will Duo leave? Where will he go? What do I do?*

Duo rolled over, only to peer at empty space where Heero should have been on his futon. He glanced at the rest of the group. They were all sleeping soundly. He came fully awake, and peered around. He could just make out a shadowy figure out on the balcony. *Geez, what's that baka think he's doing? It's freezing out there.* He wrapped a blanket around his shoulders and padded silently outside.
"Penny for your thoughts?" He said softly, so he wouldn't disturb the other three just inside the thin rice paper doors.
Heero jumped about three feet in the air, swearing silently to himself. How long had that braided baka been there? Had he been thinking out loud? He sincerely hoped not.
"I was just thinking about how the war's over...and we'll all be leaving...headed for different places...our own families." He took a deep breath, about to make a difficult confession. "And I'm scared." {AN: Hah! Gotcha! Yeah, it's my fic, I can make comments whenever I like, so :P}
"I am, too, Heero, I am too." Duo said simply.

But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too

*You know, a guy's gotta do what he's gotta do. Time to grow up a little, make a confession. C'mon, Duo, you're dashing. You're very bold, never afraid to say what's on my mind. You gotta tell Heero how you can't lose him.*

Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too

*I gotta tell him. Time really does matter. Time spent with him. Threat of Time away from him. I love Duo.* "Duo-" Heero began, at the same time Duo said "Heero-" Both boys laughed nervously.
"You go first," Duo said.
"No, go ahead," Heero replied.
There was an uncomfortable pause. Then, both boys blurted at the same time, "Aishiteru!" {AN: Hee hee, same mindset.}
Both pilots were shocked. Duo, always the more talkative, needed to say something. However, he couldn't seem to get his mouth around what he wanted to say. "You- you- you...."
"You." Heero teased, his analytical mind latching onto the situation faster than Duo's. There was one thing to do. He kissed Duo. {AN: Awwwwww...}

So, take this love, take it down
Oh, if you climb a mountain and turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down

Two years later...

Heero woke to see his reflection, the peace of his inner soul, sleeping beside him. "Aishiteru, Duo-kun," he whispered, falling back into a peaceful sleep.

And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring it down
The landslide will bring it down 1
