Albuquerque District Officers are needed for the 6 p.m. Executive board Meeting April 13 and ALL members are cordially invited to attend the District Annual Meeting, April 14, 2007 at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. Registration forms were included in the last issue of The Mustard Seed or look at the website www.geocities.com/albuquerqueumw

Reports from district Officers regarding there actions, projects or involvement in the work of United Methodist Women will be summarized. The budget will be presented by District Treasurer Alice Fenton. The ballot with nominees is included with this mailing. Items of business should be brought to President Helen Jo Satterwhite, 3609 D Moon St. NE, Albuquerque, N.M.87111 (505.299.9165) [email protected] well before the meeting date to be placed on the agenda. Have you notified Coordinator of Spiritual Growth Margrace Grotefend (505.869.3308) of deaths of members in your unit?

The Reverend Sandy Burley, who is director of The Storehouse, will speak to us on a concern both local and global: From Hunger to Hope.

The Albuquerque District Executive Board recommends that we choose as the District Mission, Houchin Community Center in El Paso, for our financial gifts. They are faced with a city planned demolition of surrounding housing properties which has affected their programs significantly. They provide child care for low income mothers, after school programs and other related community needs. A speaker for the Mission of Houchin Community Center will describe their program outreach. We are continuing the tradition of bringing gifts for a local mission. Suggested specific needs for the children from the enclosed list may be brought to the meeting. Childcare is so needed for women who are working to care for their families. Houchin provides these needed services.

Please consider prayerfully having your Unit send a carload (or two) of members to Paradise Hills. If space is available in your car, please let me know to help with those who may need transportation.

In His Service,

Helen Jo Satterwhite

Albuquerque district President
