People whom i owe a great deal of respect and inspiration to are Mark Hundevad, Evan Shaw, Jason Hammer ( whom i've been playing music with for a long time and is a sincere and amazing friend ) Maury Coles ( who is the reason i'm playing this music today ), Ronda Rindone ( for the idler pub series and for helping introduce us to so many wonderful people ) AIMT, Joe Sorbara, Michael Keith,Tim Berne, Ken Aldcroft, Rob Clutton, Glen Hall, Ben Monder, Lungbutter, Lennie Haggerty, Tim Nicholls, Ellery Eskelin, Gerry Hemingway, Joe Mcphee, Sabir Mateen, The Medium, Jean Martin, Aaron Lumley, Nick Storring, Brandon Valdivia, Mike Hanson, Nifty, Rob Gordon, Evan Shaw, Jean Martin, Carl Smith, Ernesto Diaz Infante, Nels Cline, Domnic Duval, The Constantines, Caffeine Queen and the Kings, Tim Ford, Neil Haverty, Red Trakpants and a myriad of wonderful toronto/southern ontario area musicians... all of whom have inspired me so much.. When Jason was still around in toronto we had an improv/jazz band (with Evan Shaw/Alto Sax, Jason Hammer/String Bass, Jean Martin/Drums, and myself on Guitar and Tenor Sax) called "CHRONIC D". I play in a post punk jazz band called "SING THAT YELL THAT SPELL" that is based in Stratford Ontario. I'm also involved in a trio with Brandon Valdivia - Percussion, Nick Storring - cello, laptop/electronics and myself called "I HAVE EATEN THE CITY" that ranges from Free Jazz, New Music/20th century classical, free/out-rock.. well i dont need to describe it to you. ). I also have a band that plays my own indie/out-jazz compositions i temporaily named "MERIDIAN TRANSITS" featuring Nick Fraser who is fucking brilliant! like i needed to tell u that!! and my bro Jason Hammer. Two new projects - SANDBOX (duo with Michael Keith, also the name of our monthly series @ the tranzac). WHISPER (duo with flautist Rob Piilonen). recordings of both to come soon! as well as a secret recording project and a future 'pop' band project??! I'm also continuing to play solo gigs if anyone is interested in booking me. xoxoxox
