This poem was started while in Basic Training
and completed months later. Interesting how
a person's view changes with a given situation.
The Sargeant
by Alvin Benatovich - October 20, 1962
Who rights no wrong
Of ill done deeds
And plants the mind
With hateful seeds
Who starts the day
With goal in mind
To banish good
And evil find
What type of man
Finds pleasure thus
To rack and torture
All of us
Then school is out
And training's done
And active duty
You have begun
And if your tour
You do safely end
Thanks to your Sargeant
