YOU ALWAYS LOVED ROSES
by Alvin Benatovich - January 18, 1961
I heard you were sick
So I brought you this gift.
It’s not very much
But you always loved Roses.
Remember the night
We went to the park
And walked until dawn.
You always loved Roses.
Or the time we got high
On that old Champagne.
How could we know it had turned.
You always loved Roses.
Of course I remember that 4th of July
When we picnicked by the sea
And the sand got into the food.
You always loved Roses.
Yes that winter was cold
But didn’t we have fun
Until I broke my leg.
You always love Roses.
Yes I really must go.
Hope your husband is well.
Give him my best,
But damn him to Hell.
I always loved you
As you always loved Roses.
