Pen A Poem
by Alvin Benatovich - March 4, 1997

When you write a poem
You fill a need
You scratch an itch
A hunger, to feed

Creating a verse
That ends in rhyme
Keeps the mind active
And connected to time

The subject is chosen
When penning is done
You've vented deep feelings
And healing has begun

Describing emotions
With words that rhyme
Dealing with feelings
For all of time

Like ripples across a pond
Ideas radiating to every space
Spreading understanding
Making our world a better place
