Halls Of Ivy
by Alvin Benatovich - July 30, 1960

The aged buildings
So lifeless and cold
Occupied by fool and prestige seeker
All entering a deceptive fold.

And quasi-scholars
Who’ve yet to learn to read
Have added nothing but years
For belonging is all they need.

Yet still the robed march
Twice yearly to rehearse
Time calms the pond
Then the better to the worse.
