I found notes from my August 2000 Alaska
Trip and finally got around to writing this poem
November 15, 2002. It took me 28 months. But,
like the man said, “better late then never”.
Glacier Bay
By Alvin Benatovich
Majestic mountains of ice
Rising from the sea
Stretching frozen fingers
Toward the sky
Glaciers filling valleys
Far and wide
As they calf into the sea
Moving all in their way aside
Wildlife exists
In this unlikely site
Filling us all with wonder
Viewing natures might
