Where There's Life
by Alvin Benatovich - August 18, 1970

Oh issue a coin
And hold a claim
To all life’s terror
Through flickering flame.

And take a shot
At this bared breast
Relax all guard
Your head to rest.

Now bare the fiber
Of inner thought
In white bright light
What have you bought.

If sleep should come
Enjoy it’s haze
Your time is fixed
Measured in days.

Or even if relief
Is never to arrive
Consider the alternative
To being alive.
