Down The Road
By Alvin Benatovich - June 14, 2002

At more then a mile a minute
Down a ribbon of highway
My mind fills with thoughts
Of a time when hatred is no more

When flags are flown
With patriotism and pride
And the hatreds of men
But a distant shame

Thoughts of cigars
Rich satisfying flavor
Filling the air
With thick silver fog

Of Grandchildren
So innocent and sweet
Whose existence justifies
An entire span

Thoughts of souls departed
I pray be blessed
And remembered
In light and in love

So many thoughts
Come to mind
And keep me occupied
Down the road
