Author's Notes:
1. Given that there are very few plausible scenarios for a meeting of Charlie and the Shark (especially one that allows them to be thrown together long enough to fall in love), it is inevitable that some of the plot elements in the first three chapters will have been used already. However, inspiration for this story has come from many sources, most of which are outside the Monaboyd fandom, and I hope that readers will allow the story to develop its own character.
2. The story takes place in the summer of 1999, a couple of years after the events of Urban Ghost Story (for the Loan Shark) and a few years before Lost (for Charlie), though in my story Charlie doesn't go to Sydney. For the band's history, and the names of the other band members, I have made use of the material from the wonderful Second Tour of Finland site, which is lovingly maintained by Marie Siu, Jilly, Lexi, and Zap. I have added some details of my own, such as the rest of the Pace family, University, and Charlie's jobs.
3. The story was written and posted during Lost Season 2. There are some inconsistencies with Charlie's canon backstory, which will become even more obvious as the TV series develops.
4. Thanks go to Canciona, who kept telling me that Rory was too emo, and to Suemichave, who kept saying he needed to be more likeable (trying to steer a path between those two was not easy, believe me!), and to Pip of Acroamatica for encouragement and permission to use some of the STOF material.
5. There will be a series of companion pieces, written for the Crossovers100 challenge - the series will include Rory's POV for some scenes in DDD, plus a continuation of the story to 2028 - but they won't be posted for a while.
