Prince Fabricio Ruspoli, a descendent of Francesco Maria Rusoli, Prince of Cerveteri, Handel’s main patron during his years in Italy, married Hilda Margery Butt, a niece of AE Rodewald, a well known Liverpool Musician (see also Elgar).  The 300th Anniversary of this period coincides with festivities in Liverpool over the period 2007-2008.  Handel, wrote mainly cantatas during this period.  Later, in England, Handel became a noted benefactor of the Foundling Hospital in London which is associated with the Bluecoat Hospital in Liverpool.  This is now the home of the Bluecoat Society of Arts.
