1964-86 worked for the BBC, Head of Music BBC North. 1986 Artistic Director and Composer in Residence Northern Chamber Orchestra.  Moved to Portugal in 1984 to work with Orquestra Sinfonica Portuguesa but has since returned to the UK to devote himself entirely to composition.
