Coleridge-Taylor, Samuel b 15.08.1875 d 01.09.1912

Colleague of John Archer of Liverpool who became Mayor of Battersea (the first coloured mayor to hold office in the UK) campaigning against slavery and for equality amongst all races.  There is a portrait of John Archer by Paul Clarkson, which includes a quotation from Coleridge Taylor’s music, hanging in Liverpool Town Hall.
