Barber, Llorenç b ?

Catalan composer and musicologist having particular interest in bells.  He is noted for his ‘urban landscape citizens’ concerts involving drums, cannons, sirens, ships and fireworks as well as bells and wind bands.

He has been commissioned to write Colourscape Church Bell Symphony to celebrate the re-opening of St Georges Hall, Liverpool, on St. George’s Day (23 April) 2007 after extensive restoration.  This will involve bell ringers, community groups, local musicians and students ringing the bells of both cathedrals, the municipal clocks as well as instruments mad from scrap, ships’ sirens, whistles and acoustic pyrotechnics
