Grandpa Simpson is an old coot. He was a soldier in WWII. He had been on PT-109 with Kennedy (revealed when Grandpa was trading war stories) and he had participated in D-Day. (revealed in "The regina Monologues") Grandpa Simpson is a swinger, and has had children by three women, all nonplanned.

Now, Grandpa is an old coot living in the Springfield Retirement Castle, the cheapest retirement home that Homer could find. He wears a small piece of rope around his neck, held together by a white circular slide. He is a member of the Stonecutters.
Mother Simpson is one of the coolest minor characters on the show, and she is Homer's mother. She is an aging hippie who is on the run from the law. (She had destroyed Mr. Burns' germ warfare lab).Homer had been told by Grandpa Simpson that Mother Simpson had been dead for 25 years. She has blue hair, but in a normal hairdo. The early Cheif Wiggum had given Mother Simpson a chance to escape because the germs that had been released had cured Wiggum's asthma. In the episode where she returned, she sent messages to Homer using the newspaper. She was freed, but got put back in jail on a technicality (submitting false data to national park registries [She had used the alias Anita Bonghit]) She jumped out of the prison bus just before it crashed. I eagerly await the third Mother Simpson episode.
Patty and Selma are Marge's sisters, making them the kids' aunts. They have blue hairdos in a fan shape. They work at the Springfield DMV and are heavy smokers. They have mean dispositions and hate Homer. (Once, when Homer faked his death, they got a tombstone that said "We are richer for having lost him"). They are invariably described as "less than attractive". One of them married Apu so he could stay in the counrty, married Troy Mc Clure in a sham marriage, and married Lionel Hutz and Sideshow Bob (at different times). (making her Selma Bouvier Nahamapostelion Terwilliger Hutz McClure) They are hard to tell apart.
The Simpsons have two pets: 1 cat and 1 dog. Bart briefly had an elephant. The dog is named Santa's Little Helper (ofter abbreviated as SLH) and is a mid-sized, brown-furred, average dog. SLH's name was an inspiration for Bart's false name when Bart committed credit card fraud. [Bart called himself Santos L. Halper.] The cat is a black cat nawed Snowball. The original Snowball (Snowball I) is dead and all Simpsons merchandise is dedicated to her. The new cat is called Snowball II.
Mr. Burns is the owner of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. Burns is an extrememly wealthy man. He lives secluded in Burns Manor with only his assistant, Mr. Smithers.
