Expectant mother didn't know it was the real thing
After a false alarm the day before, she delivers girl in her car on way to hospital

Leslie Russell thought she had plenty of time to make it to Prentice Women's Hospital to deliver her atlanta used car baby. But she was wrong.
Her 8-pound, 9-ounce daughter was born Tuesday in the front seat of her Toyota Camry outside Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood.
On Monday, Russell, a graduate student, misjudged mild labor pains as a sign she was about to give birth and went to Dubai Used Car Dealers Prentice. But g log car kits she was sent home after she was told it was a false alarm, Russell said.
Despite feeling slight pain the next morning, she cooked breakfast for her 2-year-old son and called her mother to come over.
"I thought to myself: 'This baby is never coming,' " said Russell, 28.
But after she took two baths to ease discomfort, the contractions became stronger. "Barely noticeable pain turned into excruciating I'm-going-to-die pain," she said.
Russell had planned a natural birth, so she called her midwife while car ratings she waited for her mother.
She had been in active labor for 18 hours with her first child, Race Car Graphics William, so she wasn't worried about getting to the hospital in time. But the discomfort got worse.
"I play car games was in so much pain I started to look around the house for Tylenol," Russell said. "I found some infant drops and was contemplating taking that."
When Lease Used Car her mother arrived, the two tried to walk to the car. By this time, she had an audience. Her screams alarmed her South Side neighbors.
Russell and her mother got into the car, and her mother drove to Prentice.
About seven blocks from her house, Russell felt the overwhelming urge to push. Once she got to 67th Street, the baby's head crowned.
"I told [my mother] I couldn't make it. Her head was coming out," she said.
The soon-to-be grandmother reached down, water car felt the electric remote control car baby's head and accelerated. When they got to 59th Street and Ellis Avenue in front of Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital, the baby's head was completely out. Russell's mother parked the car in the middle of the street, jumped out and yelled for help.
Suddenly, a woman appeared. Luckily, she was a pediatrician who was on her way home but had forgotten something in her office and decided to go g scale car kits back.
"A man on the street told me, 'I think she's having a baby,' " said Heather Johnston, who also is an instructor of pediatrics at the hospital. Johnston climbed into the car to help Russell deliver the baby.
On the next push, Russell gave birth.
The baby was resuscitated because she wasn't breathing, Johnston said.
Medical staff cut and clamped the umbilical cord, used car dealer orlando cleared the baby's airway and gave Russell and her newborn an IV while they were still outside.
Claire is a healthy and chubby baby, Russell said.
