There are certain activities and hobbies that seem to cultivate their own communities, and when it comes to car enthusiasts - be it observer or participant - that philosophy certainly applies.
For the 14th straight year, the Col. Cody Cruise car show, partnered with the Platte Valley Car Club, will return to North Platte this weekend to show off a variety of vehicles, ranging from hot rods to classics to modern modifieds.
According to the president of the Col. Cody Cruise car show, Todd Freeburg, activities officially begin for the participants this evening with the show's kickoff party at the Holiday Inn Express, but it's also a chance for people to get a sneak peek of what's to come.
"A lot of air powered car cars will already be in the parking lot of nissan frontier car radio the Holiday Inn Express by Friday evening and people are more than welcome to come by and get a sneak peek and hang out with us," said Freeburg.
Freeburg said that 125 vehicles have already pre-registered for the event, but he expects somewhere around 200 vehicles total by Saturday's main event best mpg car in downtown North Platte.
"We were a little worried about gas prices this year, but it doesn't appear that is going to hurt car crush fetish us," said Freeburg.
The vehicles will begin filling up downtown parking spaces Saturday morning around 8 a.m. and the Show William Dawes Midnight Ride and Shine portion of the event will last until around 4 p.m. There will plenty of prizes awarded to participants. Freeburg said there would be 130 trophies handed out for a variety of categories, which includes the "Hard Luck" trophy for the person who had the toughest time getting to the event.
Voting is limited to the participants, but the viewing of the many styles of mean machines is, of course, open to everyone, and everyone is encouraged to attend the festivities, which includes food new car dealer santa fe vendors on site. Freeburg said the show also includes a theme each year, with this year's theme honoring the upcoming holiday of Halloween.
"People seem to really enjoy our themes and go all-out," said Freeburg. "Enjoying one another and meeting new people is what it's all about and that's the biggest thing I get out of it. People enjoy coming to North Platte and the fact that we do this downtown makes it a lot of fun for everyone."
Pre-registration car comparisonindicates that participants are coming from several different states, including Illinois, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, pennsylvania new car Iowa and Missouri, with the longest drive being about 700 miles. The Col. Cody Cruise car show includes an enthusiastic group of clarion car audio car lovers who look forward to their annual visit with one another. "I've been to car shows where there are create a fantasy car 500 cars and yeah, it's great to florida car titles see all the cars, but there's no personality to them houston used car like Push N Ride Pedal Trike there is at our shows," he said. "Everybody looks forward to seeing one another again and we always welcome new members and get to know each other. I try to shake hands with each and every person." Local businesses continue to help sponsor the event, which draws large crowds into the downtown area for a day of good food, good fun, "and good shopping," said Freeburg. Last year, the group presented Mayor Keith Richardson with a completely golf car and golf cart dealers remodeled Can Children Ride In Moving Truck 1930 Model A Ford Victoria. The mayor, eyes filled with tears, said it had been 23 long years since he had seen his 1930 classic on the road. The Telegraph wants to know what you think.
