Of course London is an adventure in itself, as it makes a great base to explore Europe from, and the Bill Bryson managed to get enough material from his travels in the UK to write a book.
I started out life in london living in a semi-squat. Sharing a 4 bedroom house with up to 16 other people is not an experience you forget in a hurry, but it was cheap, and a secure place to start my travels from.
