About AVSAR
AVSAR is a charitable, scientific, and educational organization whose purpose is the coordinating and conducting of search and rescue activities for the county of Alamosa, Colorado.  The official mission statement of AVSAR is,

"A volunteer non-profit public service organization dedicated to providing search and rescue services and education so that others may live."

AVSAR missions primarily occur in the Blanca Massif Mountain Group, Sand Dunes National Park, and the area surrounding Zapata Falls; however, AVSAR also assists neighboring counties in joint SAR missions.  AVSAR meetings occur every fourth Tuesday of the month at the Alamosa County Sheriff's Office building just south of Alamosa on Hwy 285.
