Weighted Average Scores (WAS)

First marking the examination papers as letter grades (A, B, C, etc.) based on their final examination marks. Lets a student of class VII has got CGP (cumulative grade point) M.

 To find out the WAS, let assume CGP 5.0 of class VI equals to the CGP 4.6 of class X. Now consider a constant P, which equals them as follows:

 5.0 (P + VI) = 4.6 (P + X)                (1)

 where VI and X are roman numbers of the respective classes. The equation (1) gives P = 40.0

 Now the scores for the student of class VII is

 WAS = M(40.0+VII)                            (2)

Example

Mamuns CGP for class VII final examination is 4.0; Marufa  of class IX has got CGP 3.9; and Rubel of class VI scored CGP 4.2. According to the equation (2) the WAS of Mamun, Marufa, and Rubel are 188, 191.1 and 193.2 respectively. Therefore the ascending order of the students is Rubel, Marufa, and then Mamun.
