I had some spare time in India, so I rented a movie. The Mirahishia wanted us to do some sort of breathing yoga thing... but I blew him off. Anyway, the movie was called The Hurricane. It was based off of a Dylan song. (True, the song was based off of a true event, but the song was much more important.) This is the tale of Rubin "Hurricane" Carder. He was put on trial for a murder of four people at a bar (all white). False evidence and coercion from the police force set it up so Rubin would take the rap for the crime and all these high class attorneys would get big promotions for locking up this big time boxer. Rubin Carter was sentenced to life in prison. Three times.

While in prison, Rubin wrote a book about how he was falsely trialed. The book was sent through book stores (such as Walden's Books), and ignored. It took two years for someone to finally understand the power of the story. A child by the name of Lazer (or something funny like that), bought a copy of the book at a book sale for twenty-five cents. Lazer was being raised and educated by a bunch of Canadians for some little program they had to benefit children who had great, un-used potential. Lazer couldn't read.

Lazer eventually learned how to, this being his first book. After finishing, Lazer wrote a letter to Rubin Carter in his jail in New Jersey (talk about hell). He sent Rubin money to write back. Within weeks, they had become good friends. Rubin, though pain-stakingly destroyed from a life of racism and hate, found new friends. Within a year, they had moved to New Jersey and helped take up the nine-teen year-long case.

However, it wasn't going to be easy for these Candadian do-gooders. The corrupt officials of the government can't have a menace like the Hurricane ruin their cariers by bringing up past lies hidden under their treachery. With the odds and justice against them, Rubin and his Candadian pals have to fight with, and against, the system. The Hurricane was a dramatic, powerful movie of trust and love in a world of hate and lies.
