Alright, once again we have an Alaay's Classic. The movie is Gettysburg. It's based off of the book Killer Angels about the battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War. The movie starts with a Confederate scout Henry T. Harrison (Cooper Huckabee) reporting to Lieutenant General James Longstreet (Tom Berenger) about the Union advances. When news travels to the Confederate General Robert E. Lee (Martin Sheen), a full Confederate advance of troops in the area is ordered and the entire Reb Army marches into the little town of Gettysburg. At Gettysburg, a cavalry commander by the name of Brigadier General John Buford (Sam Elliott) confronts two whole bridages of Confederate forces. Buford holds off the hill until reinforcements could arrive.

The movie of Gettysburg features the lives of soldiers on both sides. The main focus for the Confederate side is the relationship between Robert E. Lee and James Longstreet dealing with their struggle against the odds and winning the morale of their troops under strange circumstances. It also highlights the struggle of Brigadier General Lewis A. Armistead (Richard Jordan) and his ever-growing obsession with seeing his friend Major General John F. Reynolds (John Rothman). On the Union's line, the story focuses on the Twentieth Maine's chief officer Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (Jeff Daniels), his brother Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Freemantle (James Lancaster), and his friend Major Walter H. Taylor (Bo Brinkman). All in all, this is a very excellent movie and deserves the full credit that can be given to it. Another addition to Alaay's Classics.
