| Title: Desperado Starring: Antonio Banderas, Selma Hayek's... er..., Steve Buscemi, Joaquim de Almeida, and Cheech Martin. Genre: Dramatic Comedy Rated: R for violence and Selma Hayke's... er... Rating: *** (out of ****) Ok, this was a cute little western film. On top of that, it had Cheech Martin playing a bad-mouth bartender and he's pretty damn good too. Much rather then taking the movie serious, this whole plot was made to be a big, violent, sexy joke. For the big, they got the swav Antonio Banderas. He's the cool gun with the big gun... no, not that one. He's a guitar player that somehow knows how to kill people very well and never gets hit by bullets. His partners apparently use machine guns in their guitar cases and even a rocket launcher. Like I said, it's a big joke movie. Anyway, Antonio was cool and held the movie up well. Selma Hayek was a little toy for him to beat around and something to keep the audience's attention. Seeing as this site has a lot of her fans, however, I can't bash her too badly for her outrageous acting, but I think you'll all get the point. There's also some bad guy (Joaquim de Almeida) that sucks horribly, but that's ok 'cause he gets killed. On the topic of killed, someone bumps off Antonio's tipman, Steve Buscemi. He's a whiny guy that talks a lot... again. The movie was pretty funny, but very sappy and it was hard to concentrate 'cause of... never mind. I gave Desperado three stars out of four... sadly, one of my lowest ratings I give, but it's still a good film to go see for fun. -Alaay- |
