Title: Cuisine Américaine
Starring: Jason Lee, Irène Jacob, and Eddy Mitchell
Genre:  Romantic Comedy
Rated: PG-13 for excessive French
Rating: ***1/2 (out of ****)

Technically, I didn't see the whole movie, but I can wing it. While watching Womans' Entertainment (as I often due) I spotted an actor quite familiar to me, Jason Lee. Cool. However, as I kept watching, I also noticed the female performer, Irène Jacob. She was the star of Trois couleurs: Rouge and was a very impressive French performer. Cool. So, what the hell, I'll give the movie a try. Actually, what won me over was the fact that at least half of the movie was in French and subtitled (ah... bliss).

Alright, so, as I can guess at, the movie is about a cook named Loren (Jason Lee) from America that moves to France to become a cook. There he meets Louis Boyer (Eddy Mitchell), a restuarant manager in need of a new cook. Taking the job, Loren proves to be a superb chef and sky rockets the restuarant's fame. However, this is a romance classics movie, so you have to throw in a the manager's daughter, Gabrielle (Irène Jacob), who instantly falls in love with Loren. It's a sweet plot, sounds marvelous (accents and all), and has two brilliant performers leading them up. Irène Jacob is very impressive and captivating while Jason Lee shines. Cuisine Américaine gets three and a half stars out of four, lacking a little glue needed to hold the drama together.
