The Boondock Saints is about two brothers seeking a path of righteousness through God. Connor (Norman Reedus) and Murphy (Sean Patrick Flanery) McManus are part of the Scottish working class in NYC until one of their friends, the "Funny Man" (William Dafoe), gets in trouble with the Russian mob. His "deliver boy" job for both the Russian and Italian mobs starts creeping up on him and when two big Russian gangster comes to rough him up at the bar, the McManus brothers step in to help. They ultimately end up killing the two Russian gangsters out of self-defense and flee the city.

Hot on the case, an FBI agent (Norman Reedus) is put in charge of hunting the two down. Not too hard when they turn themselves in. The FBI has no choice but the realese them on account of self-defense, and the brothers go walking scot-free. However, this feeling of fighting against the scum of corruption gets to the brothers. They decide to make it a habit, sneaking into a Russian mob boss's apartment and killing the boss and eight of his highest crime leaders. When the "Funny Man" finds out about their new "crime-busting" job, he feels he's the best inside guy for the job. With a crazy professional killer after them (Billy Connolly), along with the FBI hot on their trail, the McManus brothers are the hit of the town. Their new retribution under the name of God earns them the title in town known as "The Saints".

The Boondock Saints is witty and entertaining. It's got some gory cases of violence, nothing big for me, but the general audience might not approve of it. Some great jokes and a nice fading effect stolen from most French style movies. It's a puzzling and intreging movie, with a wonderful plot. The Boondock Saints is, if you have a strong enough stomach, a must-see.
