Title: A League Of Their Own
Starring: Tom Hanks, Gena Davis, Madonna, Lori Petty, Rosie O'Donald
Genre:  Comedy
Rated: PG-13
Rating: **** (out of ****)

It's been a while since I last saw this movie, but every time I have not the heart to turn it off. A League Of Their Own was a suprising classic for me for several reasons. Firstly, it has Tom Hanks, and I generally don't like him. Secondly, it has Madonna, and I never like her (although she was really good in this). And lastly it's all about baseball. Womans' baseball in fact. The story revolves around the lives of the Rockfield Peaches, the first female baseball team. Since the War has been going on for quite some time, the people back home need a little entertainment and what's better then the world of professional baseball?

A League Of Their Own gets a four star rating for several reasons. One, because the acting job was fabulous. It was natural and powerful. Two, the plot held my attention even though it was all about baseball. They didn't lose ignorant people like me with confusing terms, and even my buddy unfrozen cave man lawyer was able to follow the plot. It was a captivating story and very entertaining. The storyline was comical (thanks to the assistance of a drunken baseball coach Tom Hanks and a slutty Maddona {what else would she be?}). There was also dramatics and history of a period of great sorrow for a nation and a cool guest appereance by Bill Pullman. Hell, this movie had it all, which gives it a nice position on Alaay's Classics.
