Program Honors Local Youth Organizations for Community Service

Since 1972, the Colgate Youth for America Program has recognized outstanding community service projects by local clubs and troops of six major youth organizations across the United States:

Girl Scouts of the USA
Boy Scouts of America
Boys & Girls Clubs of America
Girls Incorporated
Camp Fire Boys and Girls
National 4-H Council
It is the longest-running recognition program for community service by young people in the United States.

Each year, Colgate provides monetary awards to those projects judged the most meaningful and successful. Winning projects have focused on such programs as environmental preservation, adult literacy, community restoration, food and clothing donation programs, foster care, senior citizen outreach and substance abuse prevention.

With more than 300 winners selected annually, over $5.5 million has been awarded to local clubs and troops in the program's 29-year history.

To check out more information online go to www.colgate.com, click on colgate cares, and select the 14 - 22age group. Or you may print off the enrollment form by clicking here. There is also an information sheet. Both of these pages might take a few moments to load, so hang in there. It appears that this campaign is a continuous program, so if your group can't get something together by this March, check the web page to see if Colgate will have a new campaign for 2002/2003. Also, the campaign seems to be for just boy scout age youth, I did notice that some packs did win awards, so if you have a pack that is interested in this contest you might email the director and inquire. You can email the director, David Forman to ask any questions, maybe inquire about next year also. The project for this year includes 318 cash prizes plus grand prize that includes a 3 day/2 night trip of some sort... cool. Good Luck, have fun!
