A SCOUT IS REVERENT


Aklan & Iron Horse districts are teaming up once again for the 2nd annual 10 Commandments Bike Ride. Come join us this year in Pleasant Hill, beginning at Faith Lutheran Church, 50 Woodsworth Lane, at 10am. We will make a total of 5 stops, at each church a religious leader will give a brief chat about 2 of the Commandments. All Scouts & families from all districts are welcome to come. Scouts are asked to wear a Scout shirt. There is a map, more information and a special 10 Commandments t-shirt transfer available at www.geocities.com/aklannews.
Lunch will be provided, a donation of $3-5 is encouraged, but not required, to help defray cost. All riders should carry water bottles. Non-bike riders are welcome to carpool along.
There are 2 more Scout Sunday services in February: the next one will be the day after the bike ride on 2/3 at 10am Our Savior�s Lutheran, 1035 Carol Lane, Lafayette, followed on 2/10 at 9am at the Overlook LDS, Walnut Creek. Full uniform.

The trophies are ordered, the patches are in, & the team is revving up to host the Blackhawk500 Pinewood Derby on 2/23, 8:30am at the Blackhawk Museum in Danville. Go to www.blackhawk500.com to register or contact race chairman Tony Fakonas 253-9477. Get your entries in early, don�t miss out. Scouts wear your uniform to get free admission to the fabulous automotive museum & bring the family. There will be crafts, a treasure hunt, food, advancement requirements, plus you may purchase a photo certificate of yourself & the creator of the Pinewood derby! Check- ins will held before race day. Having fun at Roundtable


7:30pm at Our Savior�s Lutheran, 1035 Carol Ln, Lafayette, OA at 6:30. Come get the scoop on the Dist. Dinner, Blackhawk500, have your OA election team trained, FOS, Day Camp, Venture, and more! Boy Scout leaders will be reviewing the Scout Master computer program. Cub leaders: bring your staves or come get one, we will be decorating and making a special tie slide.

Its time for elections - review your advancement records for eligible boys. Election packets are available online. Please send your election team to training at Roundtable this month, 6:30pm, bring $5 for dinner. Contact Dave Brown, to schedule your election.

Eat & Be Merry at the District Recognition Dinner


Join us, Saturday 3/2, 6:30pm at the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church, 49 Knox Rd. Lafayette. Tickets are $20 ea. Please send reservations to Sally Bayuk, 376-1548. Make checks payable to BSA or have the money deducted from your unit account. Applaud those being honored in our district & spend some time in fellowship. If any unit has not turned in their unit�s �Scouter of the Year� honorees, Sherry Nolan will take the info until the Feb. Roundtable.

2002 Aklan Day Camp


Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Cubs of the Round Table: Day Camp is quickly approaching! Many brave knights and fearless leaders are being sought to partake of the quest. Scribes take note: a simplified registration form will soon be available to enlist all knights and leaders. The two weeks of the adventure will encompass the weeks of June 17th and 28th. Elders: your presence is heartily requested to lead the royal company on their quest. Queen, (aka camp director), Sally Bayuk, wishes to hear the enchanted words, (I volunteer), from you, 376-1548. The master of arms, (aka program director), Patti Young, will also take your pledge, 254-1103.

Venturing we will Grow


A new Venture Crew has begun. Currently there are 3 young men & 2 young ladies signed up. They are hoping to take a camping/river rafting trip this summer. Sound interesting? All high school age youth, male or female are invited to join Aklan�s newest Venture Crew. Parents are welcome & encouraged to be a part of this exciting new adVENTURE. If any troop would like to help support the Venturing program by offering to share their equipment, twice a year, it would be greatly appreciated. Contact Eric Kriens, Dist. Exec. 674-6122.
