Clinical
Chemistry Reagents- An Overview
Clinical chemistry reagents are used for estimating the quantity
of simple analytes like glucose, cholesterol as well as for the
estimation of complex enzymes like SGOT, SGPT, ALP for their
activity levels in human blood.
These reagents could be broadly classified into TWO categories:
1. Enzymatic Reagents
The reagents which could be employed in the estimation of simple
analytes or complex enzymes, and employ enzymes as part of the
reagent system used for performing the tests.
2. Non Enymatic Reagents
The reagents which could be employed in the analysis of simple
analytes or complex enzymes, and do not employ any enzymes as
part of the reagent system used for the test.
For all enzymatic kits, the enzymes used in the reagent system
form a critical component o
