Yes we do have baseball in Alaska and yes our season is short. Even with the short season Alaska has produced many excellent ball players. There are young men from Alaska and Fairbanks that have earned baseball scholarships and have even been signed to minor league teams or are major league baseball players now!

Legion baseball has been in Fairbanks for many years but the whole program here has been rebuilt since 1993. We started our Midnight Sun Tournament in 1998 this has become one of the great tournaments of Alaska.

We were also able to host a Arizona team here in 1997 (Tucson Stars) as well as teams from Anchorage. In 1998 we hosted a team from West Warwick Rhode Island. 1999 we had teams from Freeport, Pa. and Battle Ground, Wa. West Warwick returned in 2001.

Fairbanks American Legion Baseball would like to cordially invite you to participate in this Alaskan summer baseball classic.The age group is from sixteen to nineteen. This is a tournament played with no artificial lighting. With Fairbanks a mere 160 miles south of the Arctic Circle, were in the summer the sun rarely stops shinning, we take advantage of this unique phenomeon. As quoted by the Manager for the West Warwick Rhode Island team that played in our 1998 tournament "Alaska is the experience baseball is just the vehicle"

The tournament committee has dedicated themselfs to providing an outstanding tournament and a great week in Fairbanks!
