Runes are sacred and are not to be taken lightly. The belief of the power of words is strongly rooted in the origins of runes. Pick the correct rune to enable your working. Consider the need and give it intent. Speak it and remember the word can not be retracted. Once spoken it can not be taken back. A million apologies could go unforgiving. Don't go there if you are to cause harm. Origin
137. I know I hung on that windy Tree nine whole days and nights, stabbed with a spear, offered to Odin, myself to mine own self given, high on that Tree of which none hath heard from what roots it rises to heaven. Divination runes used today are composed of 25 runes. All the 24 FUTHARK runes and one rune that is completely blank and this rune is called Wyrd. It is the rune of that "which is not to be known",meaning it's unknowable at the time the rune reading was made.
Bindrunes
As seen here. This bindrune is one for protection, risted* from the runes drawn on the piece of paper above it.
You can see these runes and bind runes in some of my works on wands and amulets and rune sets. The bind runes are incredible beautiful and mysterious.
![]() Cleansing your runes Once you have made your runes, it's important to cleanse them spiritually. This can be done in various ways: You can lay them out under the full moon for a night. You can "smudge" them with herbs and insence smoke. They can also be cleansed a more natural way, by using a naturally running stream or spring.
Empowering the runes Once you have cleansed your runes, you have to empower them. Shown below are pictures of use of the Elements to empower your runes, they can be further "charged" by setting them out under powerful full moon light for a night and out in the sun for a day.
![]() The Theban Alphabet AKA Witches Rune is only a cypher used to hide practioner's spells and knowledge in what looked like ancient language. It's a good way to keep your writings a secret from unwanted eyes. But use of this cypher is not mandatory, because the witchcraft is a tradition of poetry, not theology. The rhymes or poetry written in the form that we now know as spell rhymes are in themselves cryptic enough that only the author actually understand the power behind the words, the need, the true meanings... |
