History

Nihon Goshin Aikido was founded by Shodo Morita on Japan's Northern-most Island of Hokkaido.  Nihon Goshin Aikido was brought to the United States by Richard A Bowe who trained with and received his black belt from Shodo Morita.  Shoto Morita's adopted son and predecessor, Tominasuki Nara, now heads the Japanese Association.

Mr. Bowe is currently the US Director of Nihon Goshin Aikido and holds a fifth degree black belt in a six Dan system.  Mr. Bowe trained Mr. Robert Macewen Jr., a third degree black belt and one of America's leading practitioners of Nihon Goshin Aikido.

Sensei Phelps at the Aikido School of Self Defense
is considered one of Mr. Macewen's finest students and has earned a second-degree black belt.
