The patterns on the above pages are for three people passing ten clubs with right and left hand passes. The first six patterns are symmetric, in that all the jugglers are doing the same thing, albeit out of phase with each other.

The patterns are shown using causal diagrams. In these diagrams each of the horizontal rows of dots represent one juggler's throws. Each vertical column of dots represents one beat of the pattern, with time increasing from the left to the right. Lines that join dots one or one and a half beats apart represent single spin throws. Lines that join dots two or two and a half beats apart represent double spin throws. Lines that join dots in the same horizontal row are self throws. Lines that join dots in different horizontal rows are passes. To understand these patterns, that's all you need to know about causal diagrams.

In these patterns everyone starts with a right hand pass and the juggler represented by the top line of dots starts with 4 clubs (except in the feeds).
