MARS Movement

Prof. B.K. Passi

Through this open letter, we invite you to lead the movement of improving practices of education and also help developing self-esteem amongst our teachers. Let us play proactive roles and alter our perspectives. We, the teachers of India, should transform ourselves from simple teachers to teacher-researchers.

Creating Mass Movement of Action Research by School Teachers (MARS) is a way to rejuvenate the self-esteem of teachers by developing a reasonable level of expertise, and full faith in self-driven research process.

All teachers are confronted with innumerable problems related to the system of education, aspects of pedagogy, and related aspects. Most of them continuously reflect upon them too. Some are constantly acting and resolving the problems and issues. Yet, almost none of them consider their effort worth documenting, sharing on a platform of research. In this context MARS movement intends to accord due recognition to the on-going contributions of the unrecognized work of teachers.

Teachers can be inducted into the mode of action research, which is closely related to the area of their work as well as  issues related to children, teachers, administrators, parents, communities, and support personnel.

Documentation of the findings and ideas emerging from such action researches in various forms must be encouraged. Findings must be communicated to the communities.

Let us share these beliefs with our colleagues. The Chair and many other members of various professional networks should facilitate the process of sharing by providing all kinds of support. Other than the on-going activities, even reports of alternative approaches, innovations, indigenous methodologies used in the past can be communicated to all.

This ‘open letter’ intends to ‘trigger’ ideas and thoughts in you and thus tempt you to join the network. Let us explore new paths in research and education together.

[“Self-Reliance Through MARS”, the original first open letter is slightly abridged and presented to the readers.]

FOURTH WAVE IN EDUCATION

   KNOWLEDGE

XVII AIAER International  Conference at Rajkot  shall go for the discourse in Fourth Wave of Education.   Fourth wave of education that  focuses at knowledge, spiritualism & responsibility.

With the shifting paradigms of educational waves , the trends of

decline of materialism & scientism have paved way to responsiveness

in  institutions with the emergence of self forgetful service paradigm.

With the power –shift of each of the cresting wave in accordance to time,

    RESPONSIVENESS

tend to generate a new world order that extrapolate one’s imagination

about social evolution in order to be a responsive society.

Where the earlier waves  touched lives in developing separately, the fourth

wave is to incorporate oneness & co-creating. This wave theory in conceptual

sense can redesign the frontiers of business, politics, religion, global affairs &
