The ALLERSEELEN 7" KNOSPE (Carpe Noctem) contains two brandnew Allerseelen krautfolk/krautpop/krautrock songs.

Over the past few years Allerseelen have released a slew of seven-inch singles containing some of their finest material. The established technosophist outfit under the guidance of Gerhard have long since moved away from industrial noise and rhythm to something much more palatable. This time their esoteric pursuits have lead them to a poem by Goethe. The two tracks on this single both entitled 'Knospe' are suitably different in their approach. One track features a moody, pensive vocal from Gerhard over shuffling looped melody with spiralling guitar shards. The flipside offers an absurdist version, with a manic pre-war cabaret feel, a nonsensical rhythm, off-kilter piano melody and some Krautrock inspired guitar lines. Allerseelen have reached a point where they are performing poppy hypnotic grooves with a heady psychedelic combination of Gnosticism and poetry.  http://www.compulsiononline.com/

This reminds me a lot of Mushroom Patience and Spiritual Front. This very lounge Neofolk/ Old 1920's and 30's Caberet feel. The off kilter vocals in German work so well with dissonant guitars, upbeat offtime piano and traps drum kit sound. There is a very Bombastic feeling about all of this. I'm impressed by the songs and sound quality. The 7" sleeve is full color and very well presented. I will be looking forward to hearing more by this very experimental Neofolk artist. http://martial.absolutezeromedia.us/reviews.htm

Two brandnew Allerseelen krautfolk/krautpop/krautrock songs.

(TK) www.musik.terrorverlag.de

Via the small Carpe Noctem records in Belgium Knospe by Allerseelen was released, a 7 inch vinyl release with two tracks in the well-known ritual kraut-avantgarde of this project. Both tracks are based on a play from Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The first part is more melodic and the second part is heavier and more forceful, and here the music gets a repetitive character. It almost recalls a composition of Steve Reich, be it in a remake of Laibach. This 7 inch is released in 600 copies. Recommended! http://www.gothtronic.com

Allerseelen is a strange band. They got both releases I love, as well as releases I despise. Archaische Arbeiten and Heimliche Welt are for instance releases I really do not like at all.  Releases like Edelweiss, Abenteuerliches Herz and Flamme on the other hand are full of awesome neofolk tracks. When this promotional copy of Knospe came in, I had no idea what to expect. The release is a 7” vinyl one, limited to 600 copies. Both songs not only have the same name, but also have the same lyrics. The two Knospe songs sound rather different, even though they share lyrics. Lyrics which are taken from Goethe’s Faust I. The first song is rather melodic and moody, nicely contrasted by the second song which is stronger, more aggressive. Despite the shortness of this release, it’s a very nice one. If you like the neofolk releases of Allerseelen, you’ll like Knospe as well. http://www.heathenharvest.com/article.php?story=20060816130037832&query=Allerseelen

so gib mir auch die Zeiten wieder
da ich noch selbst im Werden war

da sich ein Quell gedrängter Lieder
ununterbrochen neu gebar

so gib mir auch die Zeiten wieder
da die Knospe Wunder noch versprach

so gib mir auch die Zeiten wieder
da ich Dir tausend Blumen brach

ich hatte nichts und doch genug

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:
Faust I, Vorspiel auf dem Theater

Then give me back youth’s golden prime,

When my own spirit too was growing,

When from my heart th’ unbidden rhyme

Gush’d forth, a fount for ever flowing;

Then shadowy mist the world conceal’d,

And every bud sweet promise made,

Of wonders yet to be reveal’d,

As through the vales, with blooms inlaid,

Culling a thousand flowers I stray’d.

Naught had I, yet a rich profusion!

These two songs were recorded on 13.VII.MMIV and 27.III.MMV. Both are based on a poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Tonkunst: Gerhard. Photographs: Gerhard. Layout: Gerhard/Carpe Noctem
