Kinds of Hamsters
Here are the different kinds of hamsters!

Syrian - They are multi-colored and may have black, grey, brown, yellow, or redish patches. Syrian hamsters may have short hair, long hair, satin hair (curly), rex hair (frizzy), band/arches, one-colored coats, or spotted coats.
They were originally found in Aleppo, Syria, by a professor in 1930. The average litter for them is 6 to 8 cubs. 16 was one of the largest recorded litters. When purchasing, you should only have one in a cage. These are the most commonly found hamsters.

Dwarf - There are four kinds of dwarf hamsters: Siberian (also known as Winter White), Russian (also known as the Djungarian), Roborovsky, and Chinese (they have white bellies and brown/grey backs to them).
They are much smaller then regular hamsters, and they can live together also (except Chinese and Russian), since they are more social then other kinds. The Roborovsky is the smallest dwarf hamster kept as a pet. They have been around for around twenty years. The females are very dominant also.

Black Bear - Black Bear hamsters were found in France in 1985. This makes them more recent hamsters, and they were bred to be very gentle hamsters.
They are mostly black, with bits of white on their chest and paws. Their hair is usually thick, and slightly long.
