Do's and Don't's
Here are the common do's and don't's for hamsters.

Do...
...Feed your hamster daily.

...Clean their cage and fill water bottle weekly.

...Rearrange their cage monthly.

...Take them to the vet yearly.

...Give them treats occasionally (every other day).

...Play with them at least two to three times weekly (or more if you can).

...Be gentle with them.

...Give them fresh fruits and vegetables (take them out a few hours later if your hamster has not eaten them yet).

...Check for any infections in the eyes, paws, ears, nose, or mouth.

...Wash your hands before AND after handling your hamster.

...Check your hamster's coat, eyes, and ears for anything that looks irregular.

...Do research before getting a hamster and while you have one, read up! It will help you become a better hamster owner.

...Buy important items like bedding and food in large packages, you'll save money and time.

Don't...
...Put their cage in direct sunlight, a breezy or loud place.

...Put them in water (they could drown, or catch a cold or pnemonia)

...Spray aerosols around cage or clean with them.

...Place cage near cats or dogs.

...Let other animals come close to the cage.

...Let your hamster run in a Run-Around-Ball for more then 30 minutes.

...Ever leave your hamster unattended.

...Take your hamster outdoors.

...Give your hamster any citrus fruits like oranges and lemons.
