Pengembangan Transportasi Perkotaan yang Rendah Karbon: Perbandingan Kasus Kota Jakarta, Yogyakarta dan Semarang
(Development of Low Carbon Urban Transportion: Case Comparation of Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Semarang City

Abstract

Motor vehicles are the most dominant urban transport in Indonesia. Utilization of fossil fuel for motor vehicles will emit GHG emissions. Transport mode change is one of the options used in this research to reduce GHG emissions. Activities of motor vehicles are closely related to the number of vehicles. The number of vehicles of Jakarta city in 2009 reached 10.5 million units, Semarang reached 167 thousand units and Yogyakarta reached 344 thousand units. The largest share of the number of vehicles in these three cities are motorcycles. With the transport mode change of use of personal vehicles or motorcycles to the mass transport using public bus, then the energy used can be reduced which will ultimately reduce GHG emissions. Jakarta city is a city of great potential to change the transport mode. While the city of Semarang and Yogyakarta potential is quite moderate. GHG emission reductions indicating that low carbon urban transport system can be planned.
