Auctions

Auction House

Auctioning in Neopia can be a terribly frustrating event if we do not know how to go about it. Here I will try to put together some tips to help everyone have an easier time in the auctions.

An auction is where an item is put up and sold to the highest bidder. There are thus 2 different roles we can play in an auction; we can either be the owner of the item or we can be one of the people trying to win the bid for the item.

How do we know what price to put on an item?

First check the shop wizard to find out the lowest price of the item. Example say Item A for 350 neopoints. Next price it slightly lower with the increment about 1% of the items price.

Example ---> Item A 300 nps Increment 5 nps

Then we can select a duration for the auction to last, usually between 1 hour to 3 days at most. For cheaper items we can lower the time of the auction.

Why should I have an auction for Neofriends only?

This is used when you want to sell something to your friends at a cheaper price than normal, but do not want other people to bid on it too.

The Bidding Process

Bidding is the more common activity that most of us will be engaged in. Say we found an item we have been eyeing and it is cheaper in the auctions than in the shops. Below are some tips to bid on an auction.

  1. The auction will be open for bidding until the time runs out.
  2. It means that we can bid even on the last second.
  3. The minimum we have to bid is the increment plus the last bid. For example, if the last bid for Item B was 300 NPs and the increment is 5 NPs, we have to bid 305 NPs.
  4. The maximum we can bid is the last bid plus 2,000 NPs.
  5. The one with the highest bid when time elapses is the winner of the auction. The status page will give an indication of the time required for the item to change hands. Make sure you have the required NPs in your hand at that time.

Avoiding Auction House Scams

Look carefully at the NPs increment of a particular bid. Sometimes there are people who try to trick people by putting things like

---> Item C Asking for 100 NPs Increment 2 000 NPs

The item may seem cheap at first glance, but take a second look and youll realize that the increment is much too high to make this a good deal.

Hope that everyone has some idea of how to go about conducting yourself when in an auction. Happy auctioning. =)
