Being Grateful, a Powerful Act Romans 1:21 Because though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or thank Him, but rather became vain in their reasonings...and their heart was darkened. I Chr 29:10-12 Praise be to you, O LORD, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.
Do we thank God for all the good in our lives or do we only prayer when we are in need. Do we count our blessings of today and thank God for them, or just remember them once in a while in a whim. One reason we fail to thank God for blessings is that we forget them. What did God do for you yesterday, last week, a year ago? Do you remember? If you do not, how can you be properly thankful? Most of us give God a list of requests in the morning. Then, as we go through the day, we more or less forget God and fail to notice how His answers are working themselves out in events. So, when we return to Him the next morning, we just give Him another list of the same kind, consisting of requests without thanksgiving. Gratitude to God opens the door for good in our lives and more blessings from our Father in Heaven who loves us. We ought to give Him thanks because of His sovereignty and because of His greatness. Praise and give thanks to God for everything in your life. If your life seems so troubled you do not know what to be thankful for, remember the beautiful animals and plants which give us food to eat. The rays of the sun, which give us warmth and light. The clouds in the sky that give us rain in order for other living creatures to live including ourselves. There is much to be grateful for.
Counting Our Blessings If you woke up this morning with more health than illness...you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ... you are ahead of 500 million people in the world. If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death...you are more blessed than three billion people in the world. If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep...you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace...you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If your parents are still alive and still married...you are very rare, even in the United States. If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful...you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not. If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder...you are blessed because you can offer healing touch. If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all. Count your blessings, and pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are. because of His sovereignty and because of His greatness. Author Unknown
A prayer Father God, I thank You for all things. Save me from my vain reasoning by filling my daily living with glorifying, thanking, worshiping, and serving You. In doing this, You will be my constant protection and way of escape. Amen. because of His sovereignty and because of His greatness. Author Unknown
