Hans Angress, 79 (one year older than Anne would have been), is seen here
perusing a book featuring Anne's photos before speaking to about 300 American
high school students. He used to be a schoolmate of Anne's at the Jewish Lyceum,
and currently lives in northern California. He remembered Anne as a clumsy
volleyball player. Volleyball was one of the few things Jews were still
allowed to do in public after the anti-Jewish decrees were imposed. He told the students what those times were like
for young teens and how he survived in hiding.
The short article is
worth reading. It sounds like the talk was thoughtful and informative.
